Size:8 inches Shutter mounted exhaust fans are widely used for ventilating stores, offices, factories, shops and farm buildings. They exhaust when needed and then the shutter automatically closes to stop infiltration of air when the fans are not operating.

Keeps my Garage Poker Games Smoke-Free!
My garage has been host to a weekly poker game for the past 5 years. Several of my friends who attend the game (myself included) smoke cigars, and it got to the point that we had to open the garage doors or prop a cheap box fan in an open window to get the smoke out of there. Keep in mind, we play music and are pretty loud, so leaving the garage door open late at night on a neighborhood street was a no-go. Additionally, I live in the Northeast, and leaving windows/doors open became very problematic in the winter. I stumbled across this unit, and my father-in-law (who's an electrician) and I mounted it near the peak of an external wall in my garage, and wired it to a switch. Took less than an hour to install, but your experience may vary depending on your comfort level with that kind of work. This thing moves some serious air. During the Summer, we run it continuously for about 6-7 hours (depending on how late our Friday poker game goes) and it has never skipped a beat, and keeps the room clear. During bitter cold winter poker games, we turn it on intermittently throughout the night, as this thing moves so much air, if we left it on all night the room would be freezing. If we open a door or window on the opposite side of the garage while this thing is running, it clears the room of smoke in under a minute. The fan itself is relatively quiet considering how much air it moves. This unit has been a godsend to my weekly poker game with my buds and I've used it for the better part of 3 years. I can't comment on it's performance if you used it all day, every day, but for the 6-7 hours a week that I've used mine, it's never once had a problem. I would recommend this to anyone!

Quiet and Powerful.
Installed in my 9 X 9 shed we have at our Camp with our full size fridge in it that was constantly shutting down because the compressor was overheating because the shed would get so hot (even with the shed doors open). Installed in less than 20 minutes and there is easily an 20 temp drop in the temp inside the shed and the fridge is running as normal. Very quiet fan but powerful.

Died after about 300 hours of use
This fan ran fine for a few months, then suddenly started exhibiting a problem where it wouldn't start turning when plugged in. I have no idea why. If I left it plugged in for a while, it would eventually start turning, and then it would run fine for a while - but now it's completely dead.Total lifespan: less than one year, during most of which it wasn't even running. Died after maybe 300 hours of use. Just terrible.

Quality fan
Great quality fan, and it moves a lot of air. I'm using this in a generator shed for a large 13.5 KW generator. It's not as loud as I'd expect. However, not much can compete with the noise from the generator. I'll try to update the review as time goes by. My only complaint is the extremely short power cord.

Looked to me like the motor died
Don't buy this fan. The first one I bought looked a little rough. One of the fan blades was bent, and the shutters were out of their sockets (could have happened during shipping). It lasted about a week and then stopped working. Looked to me like the motor died. I returned it and got another, thinking it was just the odd bad egg in the bunch... Wrong... The second one didn't work out of the box.Ultimately I bought a higher CFM and better quality fan from a greenhouse supply company and it's been going strong ever since. Lesson learned, don't cheap out on the exhaust fans.

like a speed control
It's so noisy the neighbors complained. I'm trying to find a solution to the nose problem, like a speed control. I will post the results at a later time.Update: 8/7/2016, I added a motor speed controller to adjust the fan speed. I can slow it down to a bearable noise level now so as not offend the neighbors and still get good ventilation of my garage.

Quality is good and it is very quiet when in operation
Purchased the fan for a 1 car garage to removed odors for exhaust and cigarette smoke. Had been installed for 2 weeks and seems to be doing the job. It's on about 10 hours per day. Quality is good and it is very quiet when in operation. Time will tell how long it lasts.

Not recommended
Broke down at some point toward the one year mark. Had been running pretty much continuously, which is what I need. But something that can only run for one year, I do not consider that "professional grade". I don't want to replace my exhaust fan every year.
