This is a beautiful English edition of an update of a real Spanish classic.I bought it having seen it in a friend's kitchen. Another pal of mine has an ancient, tattered tiny paperback cook book that has been her kitchen mainstay for many, many years ...a sort of Spanish Delia. I eventually persuaded her to lend it to me for a weekend, and realised it was the original of this new book!This new edition is great...now a huge hardback , joyously illustrated, it will make you want to try lots of thing out as well as giving sound recipes for the Spanish classics of home cooking. A joy for cook book lovers and cooks alike...a great gift, too.

I was expecting a Spanish cooking bible, an equivalent of Marcella Hazan. Instead it is a collection of a wide range of cooking influences, a lot of pasta, some very simple recipes like cheese on toadt, and some needlessly complicated items. If you just want a single cook book for a beginner, this will be fine. If however you want a book to get deeper into Spanish cooking, this isn't it.It doesn't even have a tapas section, which is surely like Marcella Hazan ignoring pasta. Baffling.

A huge and comprehensive Bible regarding Spanish cooking. Wad an essential wedding gift for young couples for decades.

I had the original. Great book. Not sure about this xxxl size and new design. More of an inconvenience.

Wow this book is massive it must be nearly 3" thick and contain's every spainish recipe and Mediterranean recipe you would ever need - nice and easy to follow and well illustrated, now just need to find a hugh space on my cookbook shelf to put in when I'm not using it..

After a few weeks with the book I must say I'm very pleased with the purchase. The book has many classic Spanish recipes that match with the ones I've been trying in Spain. The translation from the original seems very good also. I specially like the recipes by famous Spanish chefs at the end of the book. A must for Spanish cuisine lovers :)

The classic Spanish cookery book. Filled with excellent, easy-to-follow recipes. Yes, it uses certain "non-Spanish" ingredients, but in this day and age, hardly a surprise and to my mind, perfectly acceptable!
