Gerber Diesel Multi-Plier - SS

Great value for money. Takes a couple of weeks to get use to as the pliers work different when operating. A tip make sure you add a touch of oil as it loosens the whole thing up nicely. Very good quality product. Use it most days , always on my work belt . Very pleased

I am a fan of Volvo's... Only the big ones though S60 is only just big enough, S80 perfect. Same it to be said with Multi-tools, no matter what brand go for the largest ones (not the stupid victorinox with 100+ tools 6" wide). Volvo used to be Swedish made and owned, built to withstand Nordic winters where Jon Snow would be at home. Sold to America run Ford and recently split from a Chinese Company, they are not longer Volvo. Gerber were a great USA brand, USA made with Fiskers Scissors, the best! Now Chinese built, generic Scissors adorn a classic design, only spoilt when 'upgraded modifications' are added. My old Gerber800 gets 5 stars all day, I bought this replacement, it's ok/good. The Tanto Blade is better than the 800, but everything else is just.. less. I get the same confidence as a tool, the best locking system, the best plier system, though not cantilever like my SOG EOD. Pay lo side of camelcamel pricing and it's amazing what you get for your money, recommended. But look on ebay for old stock 'new' USA Gerber and buy the best.

My first Gerber MT was the scout; all steel with no plastic locking clips. Lost in in the Smokey mountains. The Diesel I was sent was in one short word "poo". The metal was thick and made a clang rather than a ting. A proper knife edge will cut you so smoothly that you will not feel it. The edge of the diesel could be stroked without even nicking the skin. The scissors would crease rater than cut and not return to open as the spring bar would displace. Either buy a top of the range leather man one-handed or the Stanley multitool for a tenner. Would not trust it to get me safely back from the end of the garden let alone a week in the woods.

I've had a leatherman for over ten years and I found it difficult not to compare both designs. I don't like gerber design for opening up to access blades etc. When the blades are opened, they face the wrong way making it hard to cut intricate objects as the gerber body gets in the way. If you have the money buy a leatherman, also the holder you get with it is cheap and too bulky. I miss my streamline leather holder.

My diesel is great really usefull - all the tools you would need - I keep it in my bag when I go cycling or leave it in my car... I have used it when changing brakes on car and pedal bike... just feels solid ... the blade is super sharp, mind your fingers because you won't realise untill you notice that you are leaking... all in all I love it.. I haven't got another multi tool to compare.. I would like a SOG so maybe if I get that I will update at a later date.

I got this as it was a large tool and cheaper than the leatherman alternative. It's pretty sturdy for most tasks and I like the flick opening pliers. The pliers are are solid and strong as is the knife blade, screwdrivers are ok if their is no alternative but as with most multitools they are not perfect.

I normally avoid multi-tools like the plague as although they are supposed to be capable of several different tasks, they do most of them badly, or not at all. But the Gerber Diesel Multi-Plier is in a different class altogether. Is is tough and very well made from stainless steel; it really is easy and effective to use as a knife, screwdrivers, pliers, can/bottle openers, file, scissors, saw and wire cutters. Because the pliers slide back into the handle it is remarkably small and fits easily into the supplied belt holster. It can be opened one handed. Putting some light oil on the moving parts makes it even easier to use.

I bought this for all the odd bits that occasionally need doing in the home. Store it in the kitchen or in your DIY kit. it has everything you would need to complete most simple DIY tasks and would be a great tool if you were a fisherman or like camping. It also comes with a great belt holder in case you wanted to keep it on your person most of the time. You also can't loose it then ;-)

Ich habe das Gerber jetzt fast seit einem Jahr im Sand und auch viel Wasser im Gebrauch und es funktioniert immer noch wie am ersten Tag. Ich benutzte zu 99% nur die Zangen- und Messerfunktion. Das Gerber lässt sich auch prima mit Handschuhen (von Mechanik) bedienen. Kann das Tool nur empfehlen.

Heavy duty but lightweight, amazing tool gets the job done. Great craftsmanship and value. Unique design for long lasting use. Definitely recommending this product. Stiff to open at first but gets easier over time or what I did was open and close the pliers till I like the loosens

Als Veranstaltungstechniker, brauch man ab und zu ein Multitoll. Was man in der Tasche hat und schnel zur Hand hat, es ist auch sehr stabil, und die Qualität macht keinen schlechten Eindruck.

プライヤーはそこそこですが，それ以外のツールは，総じてチープです。ナイフと鋸には，刃がついていません。ナイフにいたっては，バリが残っていて，完成品とは思えません。ヤスリは，まあまあ使えます。はさみは一応切れます。栓抜き，缶切りは一応使えます。ドライバーは，無いよりはましです。 おまけに，プライヤー以外のツールを取り出すには，一旦，プライヤーを引き出してグリップが開けられる状態にしなければならず，ツール類を引き出した後は，また，プライヤーを元に戻さないとグリップが閉じないので，ツールが使いにくく，結局プライヤーを再度戻すことになります。ツール使用後は，また，プライヤーを引き出さないと，ツール類は収納できません。大変，面倒です。 片手でプライヤーを引き出せることはよいのですが，そのために，他のツールの機能や長さ，強度などがすべて犠牲になっている感じです。 結局，プライヤー以外のツールについては，その機能や頑丈さにおいて，レザーマンのチャージやビクトリノックのＮＬシリーズ（アウトライダーなど）とは，全く比べものになりません。ビクトリノックスのハントマンなどのシリーズに比べても，はっきりと劣っています。 プライヤー以外のツールは，何もないよりはまし，オマケ，と考えた方がよいでしょう。 軽さ，以外にレザーマンに勝るところは，ありません。
