What size are these gloves? "Fits most" is a lousy description.

These are very small and they are not cotton. They are a man made fiber and have enough elastic to nearly be a compression glove. They are made in China and the only writing on them is in chinese. I do not recommend these gloves unless you are looking for a very tight fitting compression glove.

Could these be used while playing a stringed instrument? I play guitar and don't want to get oils from my skin, sweat, dirt, etc on the neck.

It is possible, dependent upon the strength of the feeling in your fingertips. As long as you can feel the strings through the gloves, which is possible as these gloves are not extremely thick, then they will work for you. I cannot measure the range of your fingertip feeling, therefore, cannot make a conjecture. You will have to try it to see if you are comfortable with it.

Are these good for handling glossy photos?

They would be perfect. I am using them to wear when I have to do essential grocery shopping. Because nitrile or latex gloves are not available in any store near to me. I have small hands and the fingers are a little long on me. They would fit medium hands well. The fabric is slightly strechy. I am also using the gloves for gardening to keep my hands clean. I've worn all but one pair so I am getting ready to wash them.
