Works beautifully
This is a high quality shut-off valve that works perfectly. The heavy brass casting houses a tight fitting ball valve that turns easily and smoothly because the valve lever is twice as long as the one on most hose-end valves. It shuts off completely with no leaks from the valve or hose-end connection. Note: Some hose-ends are too short to allow proper contact with the valve washer. This is easily solved by placing an additional washer in the valve.

Heavy duty, extremely well machined and assembled
This is the third garden hose shut-off ball valve I have ordered in as many days. The other two were more expensive and claimed to be heavy duty. Both of the others were larger and not as heavy. One was hard to operate, and I could not get a tight leak-proof seal with the other even with fresh rubber washers. I am ordering two more of these simply to have on-hand. Great product and exception $$ value.

Sturdy-well made. Has brass handle.
I bought this to add to a broken outdoor faucet rather than replace the bib.It works just fine.It doesn't have a plastic handle that others do- which breaks off making the valve hard to use if not useless.Spend a bit more for this and it will last for years.

High quality piece, but one flaw
Pros:-Seems very high quality, very well built-My water flow did not decrease, it actually slightly increased oddly enough. With this shut off valve attached to the hose, it took me 70 seconds to fill a 5 gallon bucket, which equals 4.2 gallons per minute. Without it on the hose, it took 75 seconds to fill the bucket, which equals 4.0 gallons per minute. Probably just a natural fluctuation. I should also mention, this an older house with a 5/8" water meter, and 1/2" copper plumbing, that's why my GPM is so low. With both tests, I had the water free flowing for about 10 seconds before I directed the water into the bucket.-Came with 2 rubber washersCons:-The male threaded side is too short, some of my hose attachments bottom out and don't seal properly. I was about to send it back to amazon, and then I decided to try doubling up on my hose washers, which surprisingly is working without leaks. I don't like it though, I'm going to try and find extra thick hose washers because I really want to keep this shut off valve. I've had too many other shut off valves break or fail on me, and this one seems too well built to give up on that easily.

Excellent quality, but leaks because male end is too short and female end is too deep.
One the one hand, this valve is made from top-notch materials and the manufacturing quality is fantastic. It's really built to last. BUT ... it leaks. The male end is too short (not enough threads) for most of the hose attachments I've used it with (e.g. spray nozzles, garden hoses, drip hoses, sprinklers, etc.), so the male end doesn't seat in the attachment's washer, and it leaks where they are joined. Often badly, literally spraying a steady stream of water where the attachment screws onto the shut-off valve. And the opposite is true on the female side of the shut-off valve - it's too deep (too many threads), so the male end of many of the standard garden hoses I've used don't seat in the female end of the shut-off valve, again resulting in leaking joints. Badly leaking. And yes, I always use new / good quality washers.Makes me sad ... because I've tried numerous different shut off valves, and in terms of craftsmanship and materials, this is by far the best quality shut-off valve I've found on the market. But if it leaks, it isn't worth a dime, is it?So for me, I'm going to keep searching.
