Excellent Choice
After extensive research, I decided to go with the 822PS as my battery backup system with a separate water level alarm and I’m glad I did. My sump pump triggers every 10 minutes so it is imperative that my pump runs uninterrupted. The 822PS is an exceptionally well built unit and works perfectly. While in standby mode, it keeps the battery changed and has indicator lights to let you know if the battery is charging, fully charged, or needs replacement. I have the 822PS on its own separate circuit breaker at my service panel. Upon testing... the 822PS took over powering my sump pump in seconds. It operates silently and features a cooling fan that works only if temperatures increase enough within the unit to call for it. It was easy to install, setup, and operate. It was also well packaged and comes with clear and concise instructions.Besides the battery backup, I further safeguarded my setup with a water level alarm that will contact me via text and or email if the water level rises above the pump (indicating a failure). The alarm also has an internal battery backup and will also contact me if a power outage is detected. In addition, the alarm senses ambient temperature and will warn me if temperatures within the home drops below 45 degrees warning against a furnace failure which could lead too frozen pipes. The alarm also features an audible sound to let anyone at home of a pending issue. I highly recommend such an additional investment.Lastly... I keep a spare pump on hand in case of mechanical failure, as well as a small drop in pump to keep the water at bay in case I have to service the main pump. I decided to go separate devices vs a complete main pump system with integrated battery backup smaller pump. Although this setup has an advantage of having the smaller pump ready to go in case the main pump failed, however... if you have to pull up the main pump for service, the small one comes up with it leaving you without a pump altogether. Personally... I prefer the arrangement I have.

Provides a peace of mind.
A couple of years ago, we had a bad storm and the power was out for days. I didn't know if my sump pump had a backup battery system in place in our recently bought house but I learned later that we didn't by observing the dirt that been found on top of our vapor barrier. I did my research and came across the demonstration video for the Pump Sentry and was easily sold. This was an investment that could/would save me a lot of money if I faced a power outage again. Installation was very simple and straight forward. A local company charges about $1600 buy and install this which is absurd. If you can get into your crawl space, you can install this yourself. Right now during my crawl space "renovation" I have this sitting on a crate until I have the area ready for wall installation but it's working as intended. After setup, I did a test run and unplugged the power from the sump pump to the house and pulled on the sump pump lever to activate it, and it came on as intended. I reviewed comments on what kind of battery to install it with and went with the Interstate 12V 110 AH SLA/AGM Deep Cycle Battery (DCM0100) which is supposed to supply 20 hours of battery life in the event of an outage. Just having this now installed gives me such peace of mind which is priceless when owning your own home. In the grand scheme, this is a small price to pay for your house's benefit. Crawl spaces are often neglected which can be costly to your home and even health. I feel very confident in my purchase and wouldn't recommend anything less than what the Pump Sentry can offer. Don't go any other route in backups if it can't produce or exceed these same results.

You Need This!
Im in the restoration business and im around water damages every day. Battery backup systems are ok but battery backup sump pumps are weak and wont last. This system however is excellent. My mothers basement gets water within 2-4 minutes of losing power and by the time i can get over there to start the generator its to late! This pump sentry pays for itself the very first time you lose power (when water levels are high). The avg cost for my company to extract water out of your basement then set up drying equipment to dry it out is $1500-$2500! This system + a battery + a battery holder + a metal shelf to put the battery on only cost me around $835! This system literally only takes 10 minutes to hook up. Your simply running your currently installed sump pump off the pump sentry system. Once the battery is connected to the pump sentry just plug the pump sentry into a wall receptacle then plug your current sump pump into the pump sentry and turn it on. UPDATE - My mother lost power from a snowstorm at 2am and the pump sentry immediately kicked on and began to work saving the day. Amazing product!

Works great -- awesome customer service
Five years after purchase, my 822PS Sump Pump Backup System is still going strong. I used two marine deep cycle batteries in parallel and never ran out of backup power, so my basement never flooded during power outages. As predicted by SEC America, the batteries lasted 5 years and needed replacement. I replaced with the more expensive SGM ("no maintenance") type so I wouldn't have to keep checking and filling the battery fluid.SEC America customer service has been outstanding -- they carefully answered any questions I had AND when I said was switching to SGM batteries, they offered to upgrade the firmware on my 822PS for better management of the SGM battery type. No charge for the upgrade AND they paid the shipping both ways, with fast turnaround. Can't beat that. Very highly recommended.

Very reliable
Was working extremely well until the power went out about two months ago. We had a thaw and a rain storm that put the power out. It kicked in like it should have but it the battery ran out from the continuous use for 4 hours. So the basement flooded. Bought a new battery the next day which was not easy since they were running out and it kicked in running well for about another 4 hours and that was it. The basement was flooded and has to be renovated . When the power eventually came back the invertor was dead! not lights no nothing. It was 5 years old and maybe it blew a fuse . How do I change it? Or it's done.

Very easy to set up. Plug and play. Heard it working away during a power outage.

Easy to set up and peace of mind.
The 822 is easy to set up, but you do have to buy a 27 or 31 type deep cycle marine battery, seperately.Already saved my basement once during a power outage.
