The Mincing Mockingbird Guide to Troubled Birds is an illustrated pocket field guide that enables anyone to quickly identify psychotic, violent or mentally unstable bird species. Full of angry hummingbirds and judgmental parrots, the Guide collects humorous vignettes about the most disturbed birds of America. 64 pages, all in eye-popping color! Bonus: bird attack statistics from 1970 and study questions to make sure you've done your homework. Reviews of the guide have ranged from "hilarious" and "a classic" to "these should be burned along with Harry Potter and Lolita , you bad, bad, bad, bad man." Most libraries will not protest the banning of this book, and several librarians have openly called it a "nasty bit of business." There's nothing too horrible in the guide, but all the same there may be words or themes that may be inappropriate for "wee people." Meaning kids. But if you consider yourself one of those "cool" parents, hey, go ahead. Hopefully your kids will pass along their therapy bills to you later on. Review: Hilarious! - Great book! Guaranteed to make you guffaw. Liked it so much I wound up buying the postcards! Review: What fun! - This is the funniest book I've seen in a long time--a treasure trove of dark humor. From the cover photo of a chickadee giving a prospective reader the evil eye to an inside illustration of a screech owl with blood red eyes and a grosbeak threatening, "I'll even kill your soul, the book is chock-full of sophisticated silliness. But how could it not be? According to the "About the Author" note, "M. Mockingbird has been interested in troubled birds ever since childhood, when he witnessed a Boat-tailed Grackle 'bitch-slap' a friend's father... An award received in Paris turned out--upon translation--to be a restraining order."

Funny, funny, funny
One of the funniest books I've read. Cutting, witty, sly humor. You'll never look at our feathered friends quite the same! Don't get it if you are overly sensitive to profanity, or if you lack a sense of humor...you'll be disappointed. DO get it for the fun-loving bird lovers (or haters) in your life. Great gift for the right person; one of my best friends laughed until she cried. Get a copy for yourself, too.

A Humorous Read
I bought this book for a Christmas present for a friend and they absolutely loved it. They insist on showing it to everyone and it has even sparked their interest in the artist and lead to them owning a few of the artist's pieces. All in all, a great gift to bird lovers or those who can appreciate a good laugh.

In the Trash
This was recommended by a friend. I think I have a good sense of humor, but this was banal and idiotic.

Delightful book
I've never trusted birds anyway, ever since Hitchcock revealed their true nature.
