Introducing Autodesk Maya 2014: Autodesk Official Press

Just fantastic. 600+ pages. $30. Can't really beat that. I prefer Cinema 4d, but wanted to dip my hands in what everyone else was using. This book is going to be good to get started with. As always, Maya is a little expensive, but I can read first! *hehe*

This is an interesting book. It is a good place to look for learning Maya. It not only explains the software, but the workflow production of animation. Excellent resource!!

I liked the opening exercise that did a good job of getting into many of the program features. I have had to learn the program for my work and I think the lessons could have been greatly reinforced with videos. Modeling is a challenge to learn and often videos and pictures.

This book gives good examples to work through along with retrievable online files to use. I would recommend to anyone who is interested in 3D modeling/animation.

Very good book. It has a lot of teaching details to learn Autodesk Maya software. I will buy more books from this author.

Well written and illustrated with useful projects. Wish you would write the one for the 2016 version.

It was for school. The most affordable text book thus far.. and its one i'll actually revisit for years to come.

Das Buch ist ein hervorragender Einstieg in Maya. Besonders die online verfügbaren Zusatzmaterialen sind sehr hilfreich. Leider ist die Bindung sehr schlecht gearbeitet - schon nach wenigen Tagen und trotz sorgsamer Behandlung lösen sich Seiten im Mittelteil. Das Buch ist schlichtweg zu dick für diese Art von Bindung. Nachtrag: Die vorgestellten Inhalte, sind wie gesagt, sehr hilfreich, allerdings gibt es teilweise einige Unstimmigkeiten zwischen den im Buch vorgestellten Abläufen und den bereitgestellten Demo-Szenen. Das Buch ist korrekt, aber ab und zu sind Einstellungen in den Demos gespeichert worden die verhindern, dass etwas so funktioniert, wie es sollte. Man muss dann erstmal das Problem suchen und die Einstellung wieder auf den Standardwert setzen. Für Anfänger kann das sicherlich frustrierend sein, wenn etwas nicht klappt, obwohl man alles wie im Buch beschrieben gemacht hat. Auf der anderen Seite sind die Demo-Szenen nicht zwingend notwendig, da es sowieso besser ist, man erarbeiten seine eigenen Projekte von Anfang an; dann hat man auch keine Probleme mit unbekannten Einstellungen. Mir ist es auf jeden Fall gelungen alle Fehlerquellen in den Demos zu finden und zu korrigieren, wodurch ich nochmal mehr gelernt habe. Nach wie vor eine Kaufempfehlung!

I think this book is amazing for beginners such as my self. I started using this book a few weeks ago in between my revision timetable and find it very easy to follow. I enjoy reading this book while i practice on maya i think it is great and i would recommend it to anyone who is wanting to start using maya.

Ottimo acquisto nei tempi e modi di spedizione anche se con costi molto bassi. Utilizzato per muovere i primi passi ma sarà utile anche in futuro nonostante la edizione un po' datata.

Excellent resource for learning MAYA. MAYA is a complex software and I needed a good reference source, something on paper I could read at my own pace.
