Nice and very important product for your fishes and shrimps. Shows correct results. Value for money.
This is a very well known test kit. Here are my findings.Pros:1. Accurate information very easy to achive.2. Easy to use. Dropper bottle design is very useful for checking the parameters.3. Value for price. It will reduces the fish and shrimps mortality rate by testing and providing right environment.Cons:Little tough to differentiate the colours and when exactly it is changing. Conclusion:I would say if you are planning to keep shrimps and fishes and a planted aquarium and if you have the budget, then go for it. Don't think too much.

Excellent test kit, but not worth buying for individual use!
I purchased this kit thinking that it will be very useful in aquarium water testing, and I used it a couple of times. It helps in determining the hardness and type of hardness, of the water used to keep fish, but honestly now I feel it was a needless purchase, because once you know about the hardness of the water the kit is not of much use again. Afterall we do not use different sources for the aquarium water, almost all of us use the same source after deciding the suitable water or mix of water from different sources.Being said that, I found the kit is very dependable and results are accurate. Even though I used only a couple of times it has helped me in deciding which plants and fish are suitable for the water which I use in my aquarium tanks, and whenever I had bought not heeding the results those fish perished and plants did not flourish!

Pricey but works as expected!
Works as expected. The results have to be counted in drops of the solution added to the water and wait for color change. The chart comparison provided is in degrees, instead of drops counted. There might be a bit of confusion at first, but its not that difficult to understand. Very costly but i guess that's what you need to pay to know the water quality with such accuracy and also there aren't many options either.

Can't trust this product.
Don't have better option .Bought this product with trust on ApI.The instructions and colour of kh gh solution dosent match. The one labeled as kh matches gh instructions and vice versa. Not sure if kh gh reading are real.

GH is not working!
Regardless of no. of GH drops added to the water the solution remains the same colour.. The expiry date is 10/2019KH works as expected..

Gave short expiration date gh test while kh is ok
I bought this in Jan. KH test expires on June 2021 however the Gh expired in June this year itself. This is how they are cheating us.

Insist on getting fresh stock with extended validity
Only the KH test is working, GH test does not show any change in test colour irrespective of type of water used. I have tried from very hard water to very soft water, from the first drop itself the solution remains green. Expiry date is 10/2019. Wasted money :(

Fiddly to use, but appear accurate and easy to read
We use rain water for replacing the water in our aquariums, which naturally is very clear unlike our tap water at times. One problem however is that rain water lacks nutrients and carbonate hardness, so I need to add supplements. This GH and KH kit lets me keep an eye on these levels. The kit includes two bottles and two test tubes with caps. At a first glance it appears simple to use, i.e. with a 5ml sample in the test tube, add a drop of solution, cap and shake, then repeat until the colour changes. In reality, the cap is very stiff to place on the test tube. After repeating the steps a few times, some liquid ran down the outside of the test tube and as I tried capping it, it slipped from my fingers, flew across the table and smashed on the floor.Once I managed to test the KH and GP and using a paper towel to dry the test tubes before capping after each drop, the test reading itself is very simple - The colour changes from blue to yellow for the KH reading or from green to yellow for the GH reading. It includes a chart that shows the readings for the number of drops added. Personally I would prefer if it included a bung instead of a cap as it is quite tedious trying to pull off and replace the stiff cap after each drop, particularly when it can take 6 to 9 drops to complete each test. The guide mentions that the bottles must be held vertically upside down for accuracy, so I'm not sure about the accuracy with being unable to fully invert the bottle without it releasing multiple drops. With other test kits, I need to squeeze the bottle to release drops, where as the bottles with this kit starts releasing drops before it is fully inverted. There is also a warning to wear protective gloves, protective clothing, eye protection and face protection and to only use outdoors or in a well-ventilated area.

Essential tests that should be included in the Master Test Kit
These should be included in the ‘Master Test Kit’ as standard, as they are an essential test but they are not in the kit.I initially thought that there should have been a colour chart included, like the other API tests, however these work by counting the drops until the colour changes.KH - Blue -> YellowGH - Orange -> GreenThis includes two extra test tubes which is handy it’s just a shame there isn’t space to store it all in the Master Test Kit box.

Great unless you need to test for very soft (<1 kH) water
This is excellent if your kH is at or above 1, and you only need an approximate idea of your kH. For most tropical fishkeepers, that's more than enough information. It's ridiculously easy to use, although it can be tricky to see the result if your kH/gH is under about 3, as the colour is so faint. Two tips:1) Stand the tube on a piece of white paper, look down the test tube. It makes it much easier to see the colour2) If you can't tell whether the kH test is yellow or blue, it's yellow. In good light, the Blue is fairly obvious even after one drop, while the yellow still looks transparent. If you want a blackwater biotope with a <1 kH, but maintaining the presence of carbonates, there are other products which are better for you. Similarly if you want to know the kH with greater accuracy (ie to greater than an accuracy of 17ppm-ish or 1 degree kH).

Easy to use
I already have another API kit which doe slots of tests, but I needed to test the hardness of the water and I trust this brand name. The test is carried out by adding the drops to 5ml of water until the colour changes as explained in the supplied leaflet then you would out the PPM by how many drops you added, easy.

Easy and fun to use hardness test.
I've found this test to be easy to use and it is fun observing the colour changes. My tapwater and most clean local water sources seem to be rather hard at 10 degrees GH.I am using collected rainwater (measuring under 2 degrees GH) to dilute my tapwater and bring the hardness down.I did ask a friend to bring me water in a container as his water is soft at 3 degrees GH. However the pH of his water is high at 7.8 and as my fish prefer soft acid conditions I think a pH of 7.8 may be undesirable.I'm unsure why I should measure KH as well but I have done so for completeness and this test is just as simple.
