I bought these as part of getting started on doing Gel x nails at home. I like coffin shape, but the coffin mediums are just a little too long for me and the coffin short are not quite long enough. My hope was that I could use the almond medium and snip off the tip to get something like coffin or ballerina. That worked pretty well. Many reviews led me to believe that I needed to spend the money on the Apres brand gel tips, but these worked great for 1/3 the price. I didn't spend much time on my polish or bother with any art because this is my first set done at home and I'm sure they won't last very long. So please excuse my very pink and not very precise polish. I needed to dive in, make the mistakes, and learn. And I did. Start to finish only took about an hour and half. Some are on slightly crooked, almost all have air bubbles particularly around the cuticle. This was actually easier than I thought it would be. I learned that my flash cure device needs to have a motion sensor. It takes both hands to place the nail perfectly over my natural nail and hold it in place while it flash cures. My flash cure device requires a button push in order to light up. I could have done a much higher quality job if I had a third hand, or didn't have to push that button to flash cure. So I'll be replacing that little device. As part of making this doable for me, I used a peel off gel base coat on my natural nails under this mani. I love the gel x nails but the removal process is a nightmare--dealbreaker for home manicures. Acetone destroys my skin and my natural nails so after a while they break easily with even a good regular gel mani. The salon price to pay for a full set of gel x and then the maintenance protocol is way more than I want to spend on my nails. So I've watched a lot of videos on how to do this at home, and in that process I found peel off gel base and learned why people use it. The purpose is to make the removal process much easier and gentler. It's not quite as "peel off" as the name implies so this is not necessarily for one-night nails. My nails are likely to last days to even a couple of weeks but instead of filling in, drilling off and changing the polish, etc., I will remove them without acetone and drilling and just apply a new set. You still need a remover with the peel off base. You typically have to buy or make that separately. I noticed people who don't use a remover give the peel off base bad reviews. Jello Jello peel off base comes with remover. Really all that's needed is some warm soapy water, some cuticle oil, and an orange wood stick. You apply a few drops of a remover around the edges of your nails, or soak them in warm soapy water for about 5 minutes. That loosens the peel off gel base enough to allow the nails to pop off since it is what is covering your natural nail. There is still some basic work involved, but if done correctly there should be virtually no damage to my natural nails. It seems the better you prep your bare nails, the longer the peel off base lasts before your nails start to lift or pop off. Some who did normal gel mani nail prep said even at 2 weeks they were still holding on pretty well. So if you only want a day or two, don't prep your nails. I love these gel nails so far and will buy them again. I found a size to fit all of my nail plates without much filing on the sides. They're comfortable and look nice. They feel strong so I'm not concerned about cracks. I didn't prep the gel nails after I applied them. Most video makers recommend that. I just did a regular gel base coat, two coats of polish, and a top coat. It's been 4 days, I type a lot every day, and my polish isn't peeling or chipping at all. Recommended.

I am so happy I found these. First I love the length. I type all day and have to stay on the short side with nails. Once I prepped them to fit my nail and glued them there was minimal filing for length and shaping. This set lasted about a week. Through research and tweaking my application of these nails I am now at 3 weeks of almost all of them staying put. I had two pop off at week 2, but I expected it because I was messing with trying to put air in my tires using those two nails for leverage. I actually ended up having to take them off because I was ready for a change of color after week 3. I will continue to purchase this brand and I am excited to order and try out a couple of new shapes.
