Solid Snack for Cheese Lovers, But Not Perfect
I’ve been buying different Goldfish varieties for years, and I picked up the Mega Bites Sharp Cheddar version out of curiosity. After going through a few bags, I’d say these are a noticeable step up in flavor compared to the standard ones—but they’re not without a few trade-offs. The first thing that stands out is the size. These are bigger than regular Goldfish, which actually makes a difference. They feel more like a “real snack” rather than something you mindlessly eat by the handful. The texture is slightly denser too, with a crunch that holds up better, especially if you’re snacking slowly or pairing them with something like a dip. Flavor-wise, the sharp cheddar is definitely more pronounced. It’s not overwhelmingly strong, but it has a more mature, slightly tangy cheese taste compared to the classic version. If you’ve ever felt regular Goldfish were a bit bland, these fix that. At the same time, I wouldn’t call them truly “sharp” in the way aged cheddar is—it’s still a snack food, so it leans toward being approachable rather than bold. Here’s how it breaks down for me: **What I liked:** * Bigger size makes them more satisfying per serving * Stronger cheese flavor than regular Goldfish * Good crunch—not too hard, not too airy * Easy to pack for travel, no mess or melting * Works well as a standalone snack or with things like hummus or light spreads **What could be better:** * Flavor can feel a bit salty after a while * Not as “sharp” as the name suggests * Slightly more expensive per ounce than regular versions * Easy to overeat because the seasoning is addictive From a practical standpoint, these are great for on-the-go situations. I travel a lot, and snacks like this are convenient for flights or long drives since they don’t require refrigeration and don’t crumble into dust easily. I’ve also used them as a quick side with soup or even thrown them into a lunchbox—they hold up well. In terms of value for money, it’s a mixed bag. You’re paying a bit more than standard Goldfish, but you are getting a more flavorful and slightly more filling snack. If you’re someone who prefers stronger flavors and wants something a little more substantial, the extra cost makes sense. If not, the regular version might be enough. One thing I noticed from repeated use is that they’re best in moderation. The flavor is good, but after a large portion, the saltiness and richness start to build up. Smaller servings work better, especially if you’re pairing them with something else. Overall, these feel like a “grown-up” version of a familiar snack. Not a huge reinvention, but a solid upgrade in certain areas.

Great for charcuterie boards
I like these bigger sized goldfish. They are a nice size for charcuterie boards and taste the same as the original goldfish. My 3 year old grandson is a big fan of the original size and was surprised and delighted to eat the larger goldfish 😃

Bigger is better
These taste great. Easier to enjoy the larger crackers than shoving a handful of smaller ones in your mouth 😆. Fresh. Fast delivery. Good price

Favorite snack ever!
I love these large goldfish snacks to the point I accidentally eat the entire bag in one sitting which isn't a good thing. They're pretty cheap and they taste really good with a satisfying crunch.

Powerfully Cheesey!
These goldfish crackers are delicious! The extra cheese powder on them bring them from great to AWESOME!! (According to my 3 year old) Plus both my 3 year old and 17month old love that these ones are bigger than the original gold fish cracker. It's a great snack to have alone or mix it up with nuts or raisins- like a trail mix type snack. My only complaint is that this snack is not a healthy option. They're fun to eat & tasty too, but not beneficial. As a single mother of two very young kiddos, I want them to grow up to have healthy eating habits. Otherwise, these are great :)
