Great knife
The wood handle has great grip. Opens little necks quickly. Was sharp out of the box so be careful. Maybe too sharp.

If you don't loose it or leave it at your friends BBQ, you should have it to pass on to the family
Preforms as expected. Excellent customer service!

Good product in the hands of a novice
I only used this once to open littleneck clams and oysters, but had no idea how difficult that is!! I ended up steaming everything: maybe one day I'll try that again!! And if you decide to try this because you love raw clams and oysters as I do, make sure you get the gloves!!

Seems To Be The Real Deal
I make New England clam chowder from time to time and so I OCCASIONALLY need a clam knife. I wan't about to buy a Wusthoff of some other high end brand for something I need twice a year.I decided I wanted the wood handle 'cuz that's what they've been using for hundreds of years and assumed it wouldn't get slippery when wet. I bought this and it's very sturdy and works great.I mentioned this to my grandmother and she said her chowder-making days were over so she gave me hers. It's got to be generations old. The only difference I see in hers vs the new one is that hers says "Made In Japan" (no other markings) and the tang goes all the way through the handle. The Dexter only goes halfway through the handle. The Dexter version flexes very little and some shucking videos say you need a little flex to cut the muscle attached to the shell. I don't think this will be much of an issue. No matter, if this gets used so much that it breaks, I'll get another.

Timeless
Just like the shucking knives I used 30 years ago. Thin blade, semi-flexible for cleaning out the shell. Sand & oil the handles and they'll last a LONG time.

not strong enough to stay within the clam's lip
Knife not rigid enough and the grip is too narrow

High Carbon Stainfree Steel....
I bought this knife thinking it was high carbon steel, but it apparently turned out to be stainless steel. I'm a bit disappointed because it didn't say so in the title. And I paid for it thinking I'd be getting a replacement for my 30 year old carbon steel knife. It's still a good knife but I can feel the edge dulling after a weeks worth of use only. Guess I should read the description a bit more carefully next time.
