My dog has a sensitive stomach and tends to struggle with higher-fat foods, so I decided to give this a try. The low-fat, whitefish formula has worked wonderfully—no digestive issues and he actually enjoys the taste, which hasn’t always been the case with special diet foods. It’s highly digestible, the ingredients seem clean, and I feel confident feeding this long-term. Definitely worth it if your pup needs a gentle, vet-formulated diet.

My 12 year old dog has acute pancreatitis and is post gall bladder removal surgery. He also has severe allergies to chicken, beef, and soy. Needless to say it’s been very hard to find a food that is low enough fat plus doesn’t contain his allergens. After a lot of frustrating attempts to find a food that works, Squarepet whitefish formula has done the job. He actually enjoys eating now, is putting on healthy weight, no pancreatitis flare ups or and vomiting. It’s such a relief to find a food that finally works for him. Highly recommend !

After doing numerous internet searches trying to find an alternative dog food that was low in fat (I was purchasing a name brand that I had a prescription for but it was getting difficult to get), I found SquarePet. I liked that it was very low in fat and I didn't need to bother my vet again for another written prescription. As others have mentioned, it seems like some dogs like the taste and some dogs don't. My dog ate a bowl just as dry kibble but then wouldn't eat it. I had to mix it with low fat cottage cheese and he ate it. He did eat the plain dog food 2 more times but would eat it on a regular basis if mixed with the low fat cottage cheese. I started with purchasing the smaller quantity bag just in case he didn't like it at all as I didn't want to buy a huge bag for nothing. If you're thinking about buying this dog food I would suggest starting off with the small bag then if your dog likes it you can save some money and purchase the larger bag. It is a good low fat dog food.

I cook my 11.8 yr old senior dog's vet approved and necessary low fat diet due to having liver issues and trouble digesting fat. SquarePet VFS Digestive Support Low Fat Formula Dry is given as a small evening snack for him with water added. My vet approved using it for this as well. He loves it and has not experienced any trouble digesting SquarePet. If I ever quit cooking his diet, per the ingredients in this low fat food, I would feel confident feeding this full time for his liver issues.

A long story far from short here, I thought I had finally located the perfect dry food for my Chi. He suffered from pancreatitis several years ago. I HAD to watch the fat content, yet I was determined to locate a nongrain version. If anyone else has tried this search? Almost impossible, or so I thought until I found this dry dog food. It met every level of wish/want/have to have/not haves I had, I thought the small bites were perfect as he had to have many teeth removed a long time ago due to recurring infections. Yes, he was rescued from a breeder who believed more is better and didn't care about the resulting massive health issues the puppies would have to suffer through. In addition to the infections, the pancreatitis, he has a horrible heart issue & now is in heart failure. Any day now may be his last, and the reason I decided to search for the absolute best flavored, superb ingredient, small-bite dry food I could find! Whatever the price. I was already paying $$$$ for the large nuggets of tasteless crap he had been prescribed these past years. My determination to provide better for him brought me here! I decided he should have the best ingredients & most flavorful taste possible. After over a week of attempting this? I found Formulated Solutions & was ecstatic. Not an inexpensive find, but I didn't care, that's how certain I was that indeed I had finally located the Holy Grail of dry dog food! I even choose the whitefish flavor as he is forever attempting to eat the cat food (both dry & wet) & the fish flavor sounded heavenly close to his forbidden dry cat food So excited! Actually called people that knew about Axel's declining health and my search for a legendary myth in doggie dry food tails & had told me I would never locate it. But AH HA! Find it I had & I called the naysayers to gloat about this perfect find! Explaining that MANY were anticipating the arrival, so excited the legendary myth had been discovered? And for Axel, his health showed improvement when he would eat, & most wanted what I wanted in long-term results. Immortality for all furry blessings. So this holy grail disguised in dog kibble arrived, then the loyal friends arrived, and all were present to view this magnificent meeting of perfect food + health-issued canine = The perfect match! And... He hates it, I mean absolutely will not eat, picked up ONE perfectly sized nugget? Only to spit it out. No matter how I attempted to coax & finally attempted pure trickery to entice his eating this ingredient-filled masterpiece, including placing it IN a cat bowl and pretending not to look when I saw him sniffing= nothing. Crickets, this has been a while ago as well, and from the delivery on April third (3) 2023 I believe to the current date he refuses to even consider eating. I am defeated as this was my only perfect storm after literally over a week and well into the second of mass search leading me to what he despises. It has nothing to do with the ingredients I assure you. I was honest when I said finding a NO grain with a low-fat content is near impossible. Hence my delight in locating this? Matters not to him, even after I explained all the fabulous reasons he SHOULD adore this kibble and ME for my dedicated search until located? But nothing, he just doesn't care. I am thinking perhaps it is the flavor? Or perhaps I should say the SMELL of the flavor from the moment you open the bag? The fish odor is apparent and full. The dry cat food is not as pungent, so perhaps it is TOO fishy to pass? Perhaps the cat's non-interest tipped him off? I have no clue but I wept when my brilliance was left uneaten in front of me. And the now nonbelievers that traveled far (I am exaggerating, across town is not that far unless it is close to 5:00 PM. Even then it is a long drive, not a far one, excuse my embellishment.) to bear witness to the first feeding with the miracle food left discouraged. They scurried off the moment my bubble of brilliance was shattered. Here are my results, but the review is this... The food has everything fabulous within the ingredients, including the low-fat venue with no grain added. Many other types to choose from, all being full of marvelous ingredients and in small bites, and larger. Various flavors provide a menu to choose from. I was so excited to locate this, and I will still sing the praises of? Just so sad and defeated in the ending of hopes in his dislike and refusal of eating. But I strongly suggest purchasing, with or without the need for low fat. They seem to have a solution-based version of what I see as almost every need I can think of. I still recommend it, but my story is a cautionary "tail" of not all thought perfect is "purr-fection" to everyone, and as you can bring a Chi to the best ingredient-filled, cat food smelling, small bite-sized kibble possible? But you can't make him try... Great food/bad dog. But not really a BAD doggy, just "nose" what he likes? And sadly, this wonderful food is NOT it...And my search continues...**Note the distasteful expression with the semi wink, says it all." In the attached picture.
