Does this cone in white? If not what kind of paint do you use?

Mine was black, honestly can't remember of any color options. I painted mine green using plastic spray paint. You will need to scuff them really well and clean off any residue before painting. Be careful not to scrap them during installation . My two are holding up well in the Florida morning sun. I used plastic spray paint

what is the thickness size?

Maybe a bit less than 1/2 inch. It is not very thick but because of the holes the wind can go through has seemed to hold up well enough. We like ours...

Are the edges the same thickness as the screen?

Yes Big panel with cut outs. Same thickness across panel. I Use mine to cover up storage under my RV

is this strong enough to use for a dog crate? (dog doesn't try to break out of crate)

As a barrier, yes. The plastic is thick enough and strong enough to hold back a dog. I guess it depends on how you create your dog crate. If you buy a few of these and attach them in some way together to create a box, so long as the attachment points are strong, the panels themselves won't break.
