Ok. 2021 highlander did not come with factory installed navigation. So this little thing did the trick. Plug it into the correct USB plug and it put full Android Auto, with hands free dialing, text sending and reading and maps on the Highlander screen. So much easier than upgrading the stereo system.

My 2024 Mazda CX5 has android auto and apple carplay but only over USB. Setup was mostly easy but you could tell there was some jankiness with the android connection and wifi stuff. Not really ottocast's fault. Wireless works well and turns on and connects really quick. Maps and other apps are smooth and responsive. About 1 in 5 times the music has this weird skipping thing ever several seconds. It usually goes away during the next startup. No idea why that happens. The only "bad" thing is that the unit's wifi stays on after the car is off ....probably for a certain amount of time depending on the car model. For the Mazda it's about 5 to 10 minutes so when you leave the car but stay in range, it can really delay your phone connecting to your home wifi which is annoying. It's also annoying when someone else is driving the car and you're staying at home. Your phone will try to connect to the car and drop your home wifi. I think the WiFi/bluetooth signal on the unit is a far too strong.

What a very affordable price for a very convenient device. I was using a cable before on my Subaru WRX, and it seemed to get in the way a lot when I was trying to shift gears. So, I bought the ottocast. I add read that it had five star reviews, and I agree and also give it five stars. The sound quality is better than normal Bluetooth. Functionality, it's literally just plug and play. And every time I turn on my car, it takes a few seconds and then it's connected.

I'm only rating this 1 star because my initial attempt to connect it failed miserably. I previously owned a Motorola MA1 which worked great until it didn't. I couldn't get the Ottocast to pair with my phone and one of the troubleshooting suggestions for the Motorola was to connect the dongle to power adapter and try connecting it that way. Bingo! it worked. I plugged it into my car's usb port and works great. Now for the "will it last" portion. I have until July 13 to return it so I will log time on the device to see how it holds up. If it still functions I won't change my rating only so others having issues will see this post, but I will update the review to indicate how it turned out. 06/23/26 So far so good. Went out on a 2 hour road trip (each way) and it performed perfectly. It boots up and connects much faster than the Motorola unit and since it's a flash drive configuration it doesn't flop around like the Motorola.

Works like a charm

Delivered at 11:46 am, installed and running by 11:50. It couldn't be easier! I bought this to replace a Motorola MA1. I like the MA1 but the size is awkward for my car. That unit has a long cord and hangs down into the dash tray. What I like about the Ottocast is it's simplicity in setting it up. Just pair the phone with it, and you're done. It's smaller, so it doesn't hang down. It comes with an adapter so it can hug the dash instead of sticking out, and it connects much faster. Great little unit at a great price!

Feb 2026 -- Changed my review. The device no longer connects reliability to my phone after upgrade to iphone 17. Going to find another product. Sept 2025 -- So much better than the device I was using which could not be shared by drivers. With this device, both my wife & I can connect. Just need to be careful about who was the last user as they are automatically selected.,

Exactly as advertised. Connects within 30 seconds of starting the car. Small enough to be out of the way, but very good connectivity.

Bluetooth calling dosent work at all. Lot of glitches. GPS works well, but often disconnects and reconnects. Not recommended

Cela marche, mais par fois il faut le redémarrer ( déconnecter et reconnecter) car il reste dans l’écran de connexion sans dire pas trop ce qui se passe. Sinon, quand cela se connecte de premier coup, la musique fonctionne pas, par contre google maps marche tout le temps - si connexion OK évidemment. J’ai une KIA EV6 2024.
