Good Contemporary Romance
This is a good romance, and wow it is hot! I liked both Sam and Maddie, and was glad that they were able to rekindle their romance of years before.I liked that Sam had been willing to give Maddie up years before, just to protect her. He hated hurting her, but couldn't protect her from the bad guys he was trying to bring down. It hurt him badly to do that, both for his own loss and for her pain -- but he did it anyway. I also liked that Maddie believed him when he finally told her why he had hurt her, and forgave him almost immediately.I did think that Sam was a bit too much of a caveman in how he dealt with Maddie, but she handled it well, and could usually talk him into being a little less controlling. His controlling behavior irritated her, but she knew that it came from protectiveness for the woman he loved -- so she put up with it.There was one other issue, and it is minor, but it is a pet peeve of mine – The inside cover of this book did not match the description of Sam. He was described as having blonde, curly hair -- but the man on the inside cover has red hair. This may not be the author’s fault, and it did not affect my rating, but it still bugs me.My rating system is below.1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it.2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws.3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating.4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one.5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.

Sam & Maddie’s Emotional Story Of Second Chances Shows That Success Doesn’t Buy Happiness!
Dr. Madeline Reynolds, thirty-four, has given up on her dream of a family. Raised in the foster system, she had hoped for a family of her own one day that might fill the void, the empty feeling that consumes her. She hasn’t had a serious man in her life since college, but she also cannot say she feels she is missing out on much. She is committed to her career as a family practice doctor and works full-time as a hospitalist to pay her bills and finance her passion: her clinic. She runs a free clinic that gives her the gratification of knowing that she is making a real difference in the lives of people in need. Her best friend Kara volunteers with her each Saturday. After an armed robbery roughly one year ago, Simon Hudson, Kara’s fiancé and co-owner of Hudson Corporation, donated security detail to ensure Kara and Maddie’s safety in the less than ideal neighborhood that is home to the clinic. Fortunately, she can now burn the midnight oil at the clinic without undue worrying about her safety when she locks up and walks to her car at the end of the day.Sam Hudson, mid thirties, is routinely written about in the business section and pictured in the gossip columns alongside a string of statuesque blonde beauties. The handsome and charming billionaire bachelor is the face of the Hudson Corporation. Under his leadership, he took his brother Simon’s brilliant games and brought them to market. He then took that success and diversified the company, branching out into real estate investments among other things. Despite what the newspapers and online gossip sites report, Sam isn’t quite the player he is made out to be. He wasn’t raised with privilege, and in spite of his cocky alpha persona, he isn’t completely lost to his newfound wealth. He had a rough childhood, and it impacts him yet today. When he was old enough, he had left home and moved to Tampa to get away from the rough Los Angeles neighborhood he had called home. He had nothing when he got to Florida, but he labored in construction during the day and went to business school by night in the hopes of bringing his mother and younger brother Simon to Florida with him. Unfortunately, it hadn’t been soon enough to prevent Simon from nearly losing his life. The guilt plagued Sam, but he had done all he could to make things right. It came at a personal cost, though. A cost that shapes him yet today. When Maddie first learned that Kara’s fiancé was Simon Hudson, Sam Hudson’s brother, she could hardly hide her distaste. She hated Sam Hudson. He had lied to her, and what he did was unforgivable. She hated seeing all the photos of him and his dates over the years. Curiosity, though, had won out when it came to reading up on his successes. She wasn’t surprised by any of his achievements, but clearly the success had gone to his head. When Sam discovers through Kara that Maddie made it through medical school and runs her own clinic, he is happy to learn about her achievements. What he doesn’t understand is why she never married. Consumed by her safety following the robbery, he has the Hudson security detail give him updates on Maddie’s activity at the clinic. He observes that Maddie is working too many hours for her own good, and eventually he cannot sit by and watch her work herself to death. Her fiery reaction does nothing to dissuade his interest, much to her chagrin.Sam and Maddie might have fallen in love at first sight all those yeas ago, but they hadn’t rushed into anything. A friendship eventually led to a relationship. It all seemed perfect, until it wasn’t. Brought together again by Simon and Kara, Sam and Maddie have to deal with one another on occasion. But things were left unsaid between them, and a serious conversation is inevitable. As they get to know one another again, there is hope for a future. They are challenged, though. Sam’s past still has a hold on him, and Maddie’s self-confidence has never recovered from Sam and Lance, her college boyfriend. And when she finds herself suddenly the object of attention of Sam’s billionaire friend and business partner, widower Max Hamilton, she cannot help but feel a connection to him. Both Sam and Maddie have a tough exterior, and both suffer from a past that has left them lonely. Their story gets deep and emotional as they work through their issues. The couple eventually earns their happy ending.Sam and Maddie’s emotional story of second chances shows that success doesn’t buy happiness. This quick read is nicely written. The plot is somewhat complex. The characters are wonderfully developed given the length. Sam and Maddie both have a compelling story, each afraid of becoming vulnerable. The story is written in third person. The POV alternates between Maddie and Sam. I rate this book 4.5 stars.I received a copy of this audiobook and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Maddie and Sam!
Maddie has overcome her painful childhood and is now a doctor. She has never forgotten the love she had for Sam, her college sweetheart, or the pain of betrayal at the way he ended their relationship. It’s been almost a decade since she had seen him but now he appears to be everywhere she is as his brother is marrying her best friend.Sam is a billionaire with a painful past of his own that led him to make decisions and do things he regretted but nothing compared to losing Maddie. He wants a second chance, but will he be able to convince to Maddie that she can trust him with her heart?I really liked the strength and resiliency of both these characters and the chemistry between them was hot. Sam is an alpha protector but in Maddie’s feisty and fiery personality he has definitely met his match. I received a complimentary copy of the audiobook and thought the narrator did a great job of bringing the story to life.

Sam and Maddie's tale of love lost, love found beats Simon and Kara's, IMHO.
This tale features Sam and Maddie, side characters from JSS's Billionaire's Obsession series, and for me, actually trumps the main tales. I'm not knocking Simon and Kara's romance in any way, but I'm a sucker for tales of love lost, love found, and this one certainly delivers, and with an added bonus. You don't have to read the other tales to be able to enjoy this one, but as Sam featured in them a fair bit, and Maddie to a lesser degree, for the best reading experience, I'd recommend reading the first four, then this one; also, part of this tale runs concurrently with one book in the BO series. In the BO tales, Sam came across as a bit of a cad, and I actually quite disliked him at the start. He did seem to redeem himself a bit towards the end, and I'd kind of started to like him a little bit, but not too much, as I knew that he'd done something in the past to hurt Maddie Reynolds, Kara's best friend. And yes, he did, and it was an awful thing to do and both his and Maddie's lives were changed by his actions. However, without spoiling this tale, I can honestly say that Sam utterly, utterly redeems himself and more. It's a longer tale than the BO books, and it needed to be, as Sam and Maddie had spent years apart, each regretting their lost love, but neither of them ever allowing themselves to dream of being together again, until Simon and Kara's romance and wedding (featured in this tale, bonus!) brought them together. Some of the tale is hard to read, as both characters went through some really painful personal experiences, but that simply made their reunion even more poignant and more real.Add in JS Scott's trademark sex scenes, which were hot, naughty and sexy, but at the same time, emotional and healing for both characters, and the HEA she wrote for this couple, and this is a 5* Keeper of a tale. At the moment, for me, this is the best tale in in her 'The Billionaire's...' series, but watch out for a certain character who makes an appearance in this tale, and whose own story is due out in Summer 2013, as that has 'heartstrings' written all over it!Disclaimer: I'm a beta reader for this author, but no money was offered or requested for this review, which is entirely my own. If in doubt, please note that I purchased my own copy of this tale - it's that good - and please see my previous reviews of her works.

This is book two of the Billionaire's ObsessionMeet billionaire Sam Hudson. Sam has pretty much lived his life quietly with no apologies becauseSam tries never to do anything that makes him sorry about. Apart from the expectation for what he had done in the past to the lovely Dr. Madeline Reynolds. Many, many years and regrets gone by. Sam suddenly meets up with Maddie again but only by chance. Sam's brother Simon is marrying Maddie’s best friend Kara and the two of them are forced to be civil to each other. Sam wants so more than be more than polite. Sam wants another chance to make things right between him and Maddie. So Sam offers Maddie a bold very proposition. It's an offer Sam knows Maddie will have a very hard time declining. Even though Maddie hates Sam.The lovely Dr. Madeline Reynolds. Madeline adores her best friend Kara and Kara's fiancé Simon, but being forced into the dreaded company of Sam Hudson. Both Sam and Maddie are apart of Simon and Kara’s wedding. It is pure torture for Maddie. Maddie’s hated Sam for years, but when he suddenly offers Maddie a bargain. A bargain that is near and dear to her heart, she’s torn between her dislike for the man. Or the offer of something Maddie’s always desperately wanted. Once, Sam Hudson nearly destroyed her. Maddie has since discovered that sometimes things aren’t always what they appear to be. Does Sam really a devious heart-breaker? Or is there something more to Sam than what's beneath the surface? Can two people with so many years of hurt between them learn to trust each other again?I love J.S Scott her books are brilliant and i could do with more than 5*s

It is no secret among friends that I have a serious crush on Simon the brother of Sam but I absolutely loved this next book
I am addicted to this Series just waiting for my next fix. This is Sam Hudson's story. It is no secret among friends that I have a serious crush on Simon the brother of Sam but I absolutely loved this next book. Filled will love and Romance and the Alpha male that keeps me turning the pages at warped speed.Sam Hudson who was introduced to me in The Billionaire's Obsession is a very handsome man with a past there is no escaping from. Maddie a doctor who was hurt deeply by Sam years ago ends up trying to fight off her emotions as he becomes increasing protective of her. Maddie will not be told what to do by anyone never mind, Sam Controlling Hudson.Sam wishes things could of been so different but he had no choice. The things he did was to keep Maddie safe but if she thinks for one minute that he ever forgot her well this little doc is in for a shock.Maddie is really fighting a losing battle where the hottie and charming Sam is concerned, she has always loved him and believed she was never good enough for him.Sometimes in life you just have to take that chance. For love you have to take chances. This was another magical read that I throughly enjoyed. I can't wait for more and then even more.

A hot, dominant billionaire meets his match?
This is the story of Maddie and Sam. They were together once, but it ended badly. Now, they have a second chance at happiness. Will they take it, or will they let true love pass them by again? A really enjoyable story to follow. I read it in less than a day.
