Aboard a deep space research station Doctor Daniel (Klaus Kinski) and his android assistant Max 404 (Don Opper) are working on top secret experiments on replicas (robots, who look just like humans, and have been banned on Earth). Max spends his time watching 'It's a Wonderful Life' and dreaming of a life on Earth, but feels that his days are numbered when the doctor works on a beautiful female replica. The isolation ends when Max unwittingly welcomes three fugitives on board the station.

Murder is a serious crime Max
One of my favourite movies - I watched this many times after taping it off TV as a kid. I've always loved the music and it would be great to track down the soundtrack however it is apparently very rare. This is a very quirky film and I still find myself quoting the odd line to myself from time to time - however when I try this with other people they don't get it :)

Everyone who likes sci-fi should see this.
Android is a truly great little film, it might be quite dated technically but its way better than the Terminator. This was a good period for sci-fi films and this was one of the best. The best thing about it is how unpretentious it is, it has good special effects to. Especially if your into robots this is one to watch.I love it (you can tell).

Sex in Space!
is probably how Roger Corman wanted to promote this.Used to watch this on V.H.S.in a double bill with Saturn 3,as they were similarily themed. This region 1 disc is not region free, but coming from Anchor Bay it is a good quality print and director & star commentary is an excellent extra.Glad to have this unsung gem in my collection.

nostalgia revisited
Used to watch this film over and over years ago, never forgot it, tried to find it several times before locating it here, heartwarming tale with a quirky twist, a bit dated by todays high tech standards, but I still loved it! bit of ham acting but that adds to it's charm, would recommend!

Of Androids and Men...
On the far away space station ULC53 lives "classic" mad scientist Dr. Daniels (Klaus Kinski) and his assistant Max (Don Keith Opper, billed as "Max 404"). Daniels does research to develop new androids ("the perfect worker").When they get a visit from a spaceship in emergency, Daniels isn't exactly happy, because androids have been outlawed on earth, and he doesn't want his research to be known. It doesn't help things when it turns out that the three are on the run from the law, armed and dangerous. However, one of the trio - Maggie (Brie Howard) - is a woman, and Daniels needs a woman to develop his androids further (I leave the "why" to your imagination). Meanwhile, our shy Max seems to have entered some sort of android adolescence, because he takes quite a fumbling romantic interest in Maggie. With that, we're set for some multi-sided conflict in the close confines of this far away space station.1982 must have been a good year for SF films featuring outlawed androids - "Blade Runner" is also from 1982, and while Android is a good film with some entertaining turns, it isn't as grand as Bladerunner. Android is supposed to be loosely based on the same Philip K. Dick novel as Bladerunner (Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?), but the key word here is "loosely".It was made on a very small budget, and the set was reportedly recycled from Corman's "Battle Beyond the Stars". The film's mad scientist & android or human-themes also has something of a Metropolis feeling to them.Probably not for the casual action movie viewer, but shouldn't be missed by SF fans!

A subtle and appealing low budget scifi film
No star wars special effects - but the film looks good never the less - with a gentle sense of humour and a wonderful feelgood ending.Klaus Kinski and Don Keith Opper (what else did he do? - so good) worked very well together and the people are the stars - not the technology.Reminds me a bit of Carpenter's Dark Star - but a little more quiet and laid back.

Klassiker
Klaus Kinski mal anders.
