UPVEL US-5G 5-Port Gigabit Metal Switch for Computer and Home Entertainment Networks with Green Ethernet Energy Saving Features

Just tossed this in the trash today after 9 years of ultra reliable service.

Good: It has 5 Ports, is metal as opposed to plastic and has a small form factor.Bad: The switch was utilized to connect various equipment on a test bench. Initially everything was fine and the ports were working as expected. Shortly into transferring large files network traffic came to a crawl. I power cycled the switch and tried to test various configurations and found 3 ports had gone out completely and only two worked if nothing else was connected.This is a poorly made switch and while the small form factor is great, the design most likely does not allow for proper cooling and results in an overworked switch that cannot handle true gigabit traffic. Customer service is lacking and no responsive. My unit ended up in the trash since the trouble to RMA it outweighed the initial cost. Last purchase from UPVEL

been using the 5 port and 8 port for about 2 months now.using them on two different large led tv's with their own ethernet connection and mmpc, and other assorted connected devices at each location..price was great for the features and for the spec's.Tested their throughput VS my netgear gigaswitches at each location, no difference.the black cases blend in well, the logo's don't stand out.love the small case, rear ports including power, front LEDS for status and 1gb connectivity.the perfect form factor and layout for such a small desk switch.

Got two of the 5-port switches for a good price. They've held up great over the last year. Very affordable switches with metal cases and fanless. Sad to see I can't find the 5 and 8 port versions anymore, would have liked to get a couple more.

The speeds on this switch are really good! I was able to get the full 1 Gbps through my little local environment...however, once this switch was introduced the latency went through the roof! My games went from 39ms solid to 40-120 all over the place, with spikes in the 700 range. Great price for what you get, but this thing can't play games for beans.

The reason for the 3 stars is because I have not installed this device in my home gigabit network at the time of this review. Am awaiting on the contractor to run several CAT5e dedicated cables and then I'll add this switch later. I'll update this review once I am done.

I am using this switch to connect my NAS with my Home Network at Gigabit speeds. So far the switch is working perfectly. No issues. Connectivity products are very boring and standard, but I purchased this switch because of its "luxurious" look and feel. The switch looks amazing next to my Synology NAS. I was not sure about the brand because I was not aware of it, but looking at their website their product line is very interesting and complete.

I normally wouldn't just trust something so inexpensive to serve a role so integral to my home PC setup. It was really plug and play...even on Win7. It has a metal housing and just feels like it was built well. It's small, about the size of a cell phone. I'd recommend it to anyone looking to add PCs to an existing network w/o having to run longer cables directly back to the router.
