Performed as expected. It was easy to install (I actually installed it while riding the bus into work). Did take a while to arrive, but I wasn't in a big hurry.

I did a search on the Amazon site for a "back lit keyboard for dell latitude e6500" and this one was listed at the top of the list. It appears to be a quality unit at a decent price but unfortunately it is NOT back lit. I didn't read close enough in their description to catch that the seller never actually said it was back lit. It simply comes up in Amazon's search as one. Half the mistake is mine so I think I'll keep the keyboard as a backup since we have 5 Dell Latitude e6500's in our family! Read carefully folks. : )

Better than I expected.
I broke one of the keys off my Dell E6500 (don't ask how). After searching for a key replacement and wading through the nightmarish instructions on how to attach a new key using the jigsaw puzzle rings, I noticed this keyboard. The whole thing for the price of two keys!!!It came 10 minutes ago & I'm using it to write this.Installation was a snap. Gently pry the bar above the keys (the one that shows the wifi, caps lock etc) and it will reveal 2 screws. Remove them (they're tiny, so don't lose them), lift the keyboard from the top until it clears the housing and pull it gently towards the screen. It is plugged in near the mouse pad. Reverse the procedure to install.I don't think this is a authentic Dell product, but it looks the same, fits the same, and (I believe) has a much better feel when typing than the original. In fact, I'd replace my stock keyboard if it wasn't broken just for the feel of this one.I recommend it. At the price - don't think twice - get it.Somewhere a few days ago, I thought I posed a comment to this review saying it had gone bad. My bad. It is working great. Apparently the slow key response was due to Microsoft Windows 7. I installed some updates and the keyboard started responding perfectly. Dang MS keeps throwing products out to the public and spending the next several years fixing it. I'm having the same issues with their version 8 Pro, but that's another review.

No backlit function
Did not have backlit light capability. This was not disclosed in the title of this product. Had to re-order from a different company to get the same keyboard with backlit function (LotFancy New Backlit Black Keyboard).

TERRIBLE PRODUCT - DEFECTIVE - TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE - 9 months used 80 times and key not working!
03/26/2017- UPDATE- This keyboard was purchased for a laptop that runs a call dispatch screen webpage at a volunteer fire department. The keyboard was installed and then laptop was not used as we reorganized the radio room and installed new 52" monitors. Recently we used the laptop and after about 80 (eighty) uses the "E" key began to not work properly. You would have to depress the key hard to work resulting in triple "E." Wrote to the company on 03/24/17, indicating the problem and how keyboard is being used. On 03/26/17 their reply was purchased on June 23rd, and warranty is for 6 months, they would give us 10% off another keyboard purchase through their company. Therefore, their warranty begins when you order not when received - food for thought. Next, if you are going to install keyboard use it continually for the 6 months to ensure it works - our experience is 80 times and the E key is not working properly. There is no reason a keyboard should cease working even within a year. I have keyboards that are 10 years old and still work fine, now I have a keyboard that was used about 80 times on a laptop only used to display calls.Used this to replace my broken keyboard in a Dell latitude E6400, easy to install (videos on youtube if needed) functions very well. I think the keys feel better with they replacement keyboard then with the Dell OEM version. Keys now feel more responsive and you can feel the clicking.

Good slips right in & function well
Not an OEM, but replacement. Keys are not interchangeable! But this is a good product. On the Dell E6400, it solved annoying & persistent key problems. I installed Ubuntu 10.10LTS on it & noticed that keys misbehaved. Turns out to be bad keyboard.Excellent seller as well.

Good replacement
Not much to this - removed the old keyboard which I'd accidentally dumped some coffee into, and installed this - took all of 5 minutes if that. I was a bit concerned when it arrived as it was a little bent from the postal service mishandling the package, but I flexed out the bends and it looks and works just fine.
