Great book!
The book was very concise and had a superb clinical focus. I rented it from amazon, but may purchase it instead.

Good Resource...Terrbile Textbook
If you're looking for a book to put in your reference library or lab, this is the book to use. However, if you're looking for a textbook that has a clear, succinct, easy to follow and understand format then this is not the book for you.I think one of the biggest downfalls of the book are the multiple authors. It seems various authors wrote individual chapters and because of this, not only does the book lack congruence, you have to adapt to various teaching and writing styles from chapter to chapter. There are no questions as the ends of the chapters, only units. No glossary for the chapters. All of the visuals use the exact same format so after a while, they all begin to look the same making the material incredibly overwhelming and confusing. The book is too technical and assumes the reader knows a lot going into the book. I'm going into this book with about 55 science units, this book is for an UD into to biochem class, and I still had trouble following the book.Dry dry dry. If any of you have/are taking O-Chem and are using Klein's Organic Chemistry, you can see a HUGE difference into the methods you can teach science material. Klein is engaging, interesting, and explains the materials succinctly. The visuals make sense, and are incorporated into summaries. The book is cumulative connecting concepts from chapter to chapter, unit to unit. This book does none of that, and reads overly technical. If this is your main textbook for your class, I urge you to find supplemental materials. If you are a prof. please don't use this book!

An excellent buy!
The Harper's Biochemistry is succinctly written yet covers a wide breadth of material. The illustrations are excellent. The text is worth the investment.

Difficult to Follow
Worst textbook I have ever used. I ended up buying another textbook all together in order to make sense of my course.

Readable by all.
This is the best introduction to and review of biochemistry I know. I read and watched it evolve since 1972 (11th Ed?), and now I can read it on my phone. I went from paper chromatography to Affy arrays, and Harper's held my hand all along the way to this edition. Thanks Harper's. kev

Indulging
Unsurpassable in its ability to impart the knowledge of medical biochemistry. Suitable clinical correlations at the beginning of the chapters make the reader develop deeper interest in them.
