With just clamps on the edge, I'm worried about the stability. If I rest my hands on it or pushes it bit down, would it be stable and not wobbly?

I had the same worry, but it's a heavy duty product. Very well made and very stable. I rest my hands on it and type (fast and a lot) with no issues. It glides smoothly under my desk and is wide enough for my giant ergnomic keyboard, mouse, and mousepad (with a tiny bit of room to spare). I am very pleased with it and would buy it again.

does the tray lock in position?

no, the tray slides in and out. Push in when not in use and slide out when needed. It stays in place nicely and does not move when you slide it to your desired position.

What is the minimum distance required under the desk for the screw-part of the clamp? I have a maximum of 1-3/4 inches before a piece of wood.

Not sure about your question, but my desk edge thickness is 1.5", and the bracket with the screw clamp extends 3.5" below the bottom of the desk edge.

Will this be able to be mounted at an angle for a corner desk?
