Good but we are still not there yet.
I should start by saying that I am the leading designer in portable high flux LED lighting systems. Automotive is not something I have dipped my toes in yet but the principles are the same. I specifically choose this LED “bulb” based on my knowledge of LED weakness vs incandescent and the design of this product. LEDs have a hard time reaching the same intensity at a distance in automotive retrofit applications. I’m not going to go into extreme technical detail as to why. I will give you measured results for the stock incandescent vs the PrimeLED XtremeBrite 9012. The car is a 2014 Chevy Volt. I took light meter measurements from three distances. Since this was a quick and dirty test let’s just call them near, mid range, and far. Incandescent = Near 33cd, mid range 6cd, mid range(on bright) 13cd, Far(on bright) 4cdPrimeLED. = Near 14cd, mid range 2cd, mid range (on bright) 5cd, Far(on bright) 2cdAs you can see the incandescent is about twice as intense. Or another way of saying it. It throws light twice as far. On this metric alone the PrimeLED fails miserably. But this is not the whole story. The PrimeLED puts out a fair amount more light overall. It is just spread over a larger area than the incandescent. This means that for lower speed driving where distance is not a huge factor the PrimeLED is by far the better product. Another area in the favor of the PrimeLED is in object recognition. The cooler color temp with better color rendering provides a much higher contrast view of the illuminated area. Object visibility and recognition will be faster for the PrimeLED. I have attached pictures that have been corrected to show approximately what the eye sees. I give this product 4 stars. I have not tested all the other products out there yet but my guess is this is the best available currently. The one most capable of throwing light down beam. That said given my knowledge of lighting I know how much better these could be. I could design a unit far more powerful. But then the price would be sky high so I understand the limitations placed on these companies.

Finally! A chip that goes the distance
I’ve had LasFit 7,600Lm led’s in my projector housing for almost a year, but despite the great light they cast on the road — they don’t shine far. This isn’t because of LasFit as a brand; most modern LED conversion kits lack the distance factor when coming to performance because of the types of commercial chips they use. Even if the light output is bright, the light doesn’t travel as far as a stock halogen bulb would because of how much is dissipates over distance. However, this LED kit really lives up to its price. The installation itself is rather straight forwards as long as you purchase the correct kit for your specific type of bulb. Once the lights are turned on, the biggest thing you notice is how powerful the light is. Since my car uses projectors, the cutoff is expected to be crisp, and with these lights it’s even clearer than my previous LED’s and especially my halogens. The light they cast onto the road is superb and is far enough for any driver traveling highway speeds. The best part is how intense and far the light goes. Even 500ft away, the cutoff is crisp and clearly noticble, which is a plus because you don’t want to blind other drivers. For me personally, as someone who drives where there are often no street lamps I focus more on how far the light is cast which is why these are so great. The only downside however would be the package you receive because despite the nicely padded inside, the provided user guide is poorly written and very shallow.—————————————————————In all, this is certainly an upgrade worth doing even if you already have a basic pair of LED’s installed in your car. The easy installation, quality and durability of the materials, and intense light produced really places these lights high on the quality automotive LED market. Although aftermarket LED’s will never match those manufacturers provide newer cars with, these will do an ample job.

Bright Beams
Nice bright beams. Slight triangular shadow 4 ft from headlight (at 7 o'clock on garage door while aiming). These bulbs are not adjustable and sit about 30 degrees from vertical (installed in 2015 GMC Sierra SLT with full hi/low beam Projectors). Fans are a bit noisy but seem to keep unit from getting too hot (which should improve lifespan). Female plug only has locking lug on one side and to get polarity right I had to plug in male cable on side that doesn't have a lug for the locking tab, so plug may come loose at some point. I've seem locking lugs on both sides of female plug on other LED bulbs, so this should be upgraded to have both like the others so you can lock plugs regardless of polarity. Overall these are a major improvement for the Sierra Projectors which are known to be junk on the 2014s and 2015s. Time will tell if they meet the longevity claims. Although LEDs are supposed to last 30k-50k hrs it seems that most of these LED headlight bulbs (from almost all mfrs) are lucky to make it to 10k hrs, probably due to the heat.
