I was looking for a blotter that would 1. protect the surface of my desk, 2. provide a basic level of comfort to my arms while using the computer/keyboard, 3. look professional, 4. did not have side pockets for ergonomic reasons, and 5. would also provide an acceptable surface for writing. That last element, finding a blotter with an acceptable writing surface, was a surprisingly hard thing to do. I ordered several other options that I had to return because they were far too soft, and writing on them was impossible - the pens would go right through the paper or would imprint on the blotter, as it was clear that an emphasis had been placed solely on aesthetics and comfort over quality and practicality - they were made of faux leather sponge-like plastic. This desk mat is perfect. It was packaged beautifully. The leather is well treated, beautifully stitched, a perfect color, and durable. It does everything I need it to do (and really, what every blotter SHOULD do). The bourbon color is perfect for my mahogany desk. Highly recommend.

I really enjoy this desk pad so far! It did smell a bit strange when I unboxed it, but that went away after a few days, which allowed the amazing genuine leather scent to come out! I am now a distinguished gentleman with an office that smells like rich mahogany and leather.I have had countless desk pads that were half the price of this, but were made out of synthetic leather, and they were all terrible! You obviously don't get the leather smell with those, and they are pretty much ruined if you scratch them.This desk pad is over twice as thick as the fake leather pads I have tried in the past. The overall feel of this desk pad is not even comparable to the cheap desk pads.One thing I was not expecting from this was how smoothly my mouse moves around now! It is super soft and comfortable to rest your palms/arms on while typing.The only negative is that it does scratch fairly easily, but you can't really fault this product for that, as that will be the same with any other leather desk pad. The good thing is that these desk pads weather really nicely, and the scratches eventually seem to wear back into the leather and become less noticeable.Top 3 PRO's:1. The smell!2. I suffer from glare issues and I have a pine wood colored desk at work so I was looking for a professional looking solution to cover my desk area in a darker color. This fit the bill nicely. It's real leather (smells just like walking into a leather store) and seems well crafted. The surface is smooth and doesn't have that textured leather grain to it--it comes rolled so I do feel some minor "wrinkling" from where the leather was stretched a teeny bit from being rolled, but its not a big deal. It feels substantial enough in thickness to be durable, but not so thick that it adds too much bulk to your desk surface.. The Kona color is like a warm chocolate color. It came in a drawstring bag so it was easy for me to bring to my office from home, and also comes with a little tray you create using snaps and a coaster which I have been using on top of the surface in case drink condensation would damage the mat (it doesn't seem to affect the coaster so far but I've only been using it for a week).My only complaints would be the very minor wrinkling (thought that may smooth out over time), that the color names don't actually describe the color (if you asked me what color "Kona" was with no reference, I would have no clue!), and I wish they only come 32"x16" and 31"x15" sizes. I would love a longer one--I've seen others that are 36"x17" but this one was real leather and the cost was good so I went with a little smaller.

I have a desk that is made of oak or some other kind of wood that is rigged and it was very difficult to write on. This mat was a game changer and it really set off my 1940's themed office style I am going for. The craftsmanship is exceptional and really useful.

I bought this because I just moved and lost my other leather desk mat along the way. I am a leather worker and can verify this item is actual top grain leather, not the fake PU leather stuff. The overall quality is nice and the color is as expected. My only minor gripe is that the leather has a pretty strong smell that is unlike other leather I have worked with in the past. That said, I’m still happy with the mat and would buy it again.

Outstanding quality and brings a nice light leather smell to the office. Receive compliments when clients sign documents on the mats and protects the wood.Arrives expertly packaged and includes a tray and coaster which is an appreciated surprise. Was so impressed with the first one, bought a second.Lays flat, thick material is great for writing on. Just don't let any sticky material (tape, post-it, label, etc.) touch the surface, as it removes the coloring dye. A little tack lotion and elbow grease will blend it back in.
