Does the stand bounce if you type on it or is it solid?

It is very sturdy and stays at the angle you want very well. However, it does bounce a little when typing on it.

Would an ipad with a case fit into the groove?

Easily yes. My ipad gen 5 fits with ease while wearing the otterbox defender. I've got a folio case as well which fits easily with the cover folded over and back against the case.

Will this tablet stand works with iPad mini 2?

I'm using the stand for the iPad Pro 12", but it should work very well with the iPad mini 2 or iPad Air as well.

S model has a circle hole in the back compared to the A1 with an oval hole. In terms of the logo placement, the S has the logo on the back and the A1 has the logo in the front. The A1 was released on Amazon after the S and is also wider and taller but depth is less. Both weigh the same. The front pieces you'll see cover up more of the iPad compared to the A1.
