It serves very well as decoration for one's home. On the negative side, it is not designed in a good way to play Tri-Dimensional Chess. Perhaps it suffers from being too much like the actual prop, but the squares on the three main levels do not line up in a good way to play according to either its own included ruleset or other rulesets that exist that were inspired by Franz Joseph's _Star Fleet Technical Manual_. Unfortunately, the positioning of the three main boards relative to each other are not easily adjustable. Also, the smaller "attack boards" are wobbly. They are usable, but fail to be elegantly so. Nevertheless, with a little imagination the board is usable for playing chess. An additional criticism is that while the rules included are playable, they are not well explained. I had to go online to see how other similar rulesets were written in order to be certain that I understood Nobel Collection's ruleset. It would have helped if the makers had included another piece of paper with examples of play to get the idea across effectively. A move notation system to record one's games would also have been a good addition. For this reason, I can't give this set five stars, or even four stars. If all that you want is decoration, I'll give it four and a half stars. The only thing that keeps it from five stars are the wobbly smaller boards.
