This adds peace of mind for stability.
If you need stability getting in and out of the shower this item works very well. On a smooth surface the suction cups adhere very tightly and the indicators are a good addition to let you know it is on as tight as it can be. Follow the directions to clean the surface, open the latches and apply pressure to the handle until you see the green buttons on the indicators and flip the latches back down. This can be used in the vertical or horizontal position depending on the application. This is a great product for stability but if you need a true grab bar to support or help pull your body weight, get a product that is mounted securely to the surface with anchor screws.

Good grab bar for when you are unsteady
These grab bars are very helpful to help steady a person in the shower. We were unsure how long an injury would take to repair and these grab bars have been a great help getting in and out of the shower. It is true that we are not putting our full weight on these bars, but they are helpful if you are dizzy or have trouble stepping up or down. You need to watch the suction indicator and if it is red, the bar needs to be reapplied. However, as someone else mentioned, a coating of petroleum jelly really helps lengthen the holding period. One real benefit of these bars is that you can change where they are located in response to what the patient finds the most helpful. In other words, even if you are going to permanently apply bars, these bars can help you try out multiple areas and ensure that you find the best place for you.

Great Suction, but Safety Indicators Not Real Clear
Great suction to the smooth tile in our shower. I installed 3. One to steady myself when entering the shower, and one on either side of the shower stream. They hold great. I’ve had them on for a month or so. You are supposed to be able to tell if the suction is holding well or not by checking a mechanical indicator. It should be green if it’s holding well, but the best I get is a half green/ half red indication. Just in case I didn’t push hard enough when installing them, I had my big strong son come over and re-install them and the indicators did not get any better. I just give them a good tug before using them as hand holds. Even though the indicators don’t quite work as they should, I still highly recommend them if you need more stability getting in or out of the shower and need something to steady yourself.

Understand how Suction Cups Work - These work as described
These are not by any means intended to serve as permanent handles, and yes, you do need to check them periodically (and right before using) to make certain they are still secure. Best practice is to remove the handles after each use, and keep them clean and dry.I broke my leg and wanted to be able to shower safely without having to go through the trouble of installing permanent grab bars. All I did was rinse off the handles and shower (I have a basic plastic shower/tub inlay), shook the handles dry DON'T DRY THE HANDLES OR SHOWER YOURSELF; lint from towels can prevent the suction cups from maintaining their hold. A little water should be fine but if you want, a hair drier (on cold) will do just fine to get rid of any excess. Plant them on the surface (if you're doing this on tile, the suction cups CAN NOT be over grout or any other textured or contoured (uneven) surface. The locks actually take a pretty solid amount of force to close, which means better suction.I installed mine two days ago, just checked, and they both are still as solidly mounted as they were the first day.My biggest concern is that the metal pins used for the safety indicator take A LOT of force to press in, meaning twofold that the handle is constantly pushing away from the surface you attach it to, and that the pin may potentially damage whatever the handles are attached to. I find it helps to gently press directly over the safety indicator to force the pin down gently, and then lock the handles in place.

Good Suction But...
Had these for a year. Great suction. Easy to mount. Unfortunately the red/green safety indicators stuck on red, which left the user feeling unsafe so these grab bars had to go.

Indicators to let you know grip
I bought this for my parent's to use. It's nice since you can place them wherever you want. The indicators (green - good grip, red - bad grip) are really helpful so you know if you can depend on them. It is very easy to setup and adjust as needed.
