Looks like it's working
I applied this product after being told s out it by a lawn expert. I had expressed that my area was going into stage 1 water restrictions which meant only watering 1x per week between certain hours. I purchased this to see if it would help as it states to assist with reducing watering by up to 50%. I have been pleasantly surprised with this product, my watering has indeed been cut by 50% due to county mandate but my grass has maintained a nice green look to it which without the hydratrain I do t think it would look the same. It is fairly pricey for the coverage but it seems to be worth it. Have to recommend so far. Will update if it fails me.

Like that you don’t have to water the granular form in right away unlike the liquid
Too expensive for what it is. And how do you ever really know if it’s making a measurable difference? Could run an experiment in my yard I guess but who has the time for that. I’m trusting this product and relying on the evidence presented by LCN on YouTube. He’s helping sell your product so hope you’re taking care of him

This Stuff Works
4000 square foot lawn, watering only 2days/week permitted during drought restrictions (Thursday, Sunday). So I tried Hydretain. It’s keeping the lawn reasonably green! It wears off after 6 weeks , so you must reapply at 6 weeks. It’s not too expensive, and it works. Portion of lawn that gets partial 1/3 day shade, actually felt soggy, so I had to further decrease water in that area. Love this product.

Can't really tell if it works
I do know that it did make some of the grass greener. But but I don't know if that's because we experienced a high volume of thunderstorms and rain right after I put it down.

No difference so save your money
I used this product over 2 months ago and there is no difference in the brown spots in the grass. I followed the instructions and given our temperatures are at 110 degrees, I thought maybe this would at least keep the grass somewhat green. It didn’t and the grass even looks a little worse. The smell is horrible too so you can’t store it in the house. Avoid this product.

I was wrong it helps a lot
It's been roughly 4 weeks since I first applied this to our yard and I haven't seen a large impact. We purchased the 5LB bag for our ~3600sqft lawn and roughly a week after applying I thought I noticed some green coming in but apparently everyone else disagrees with me. I did apply this product at the start of a Texas Summer and because of that it could've impacted the product. I would try again in the Fall on a select section using the cheaper bag.Edit: We had a portion of our lawn replaced and unfortunately it was after I applied the product. In Texas we've had a hot summer of roughly 100s for the last 6 weeks. I only water 3 times a week for roughly 20 minutes and the yard is looking way better than our neighbors. See the spots on the pictures. You can guess what areas were replaced.

Water savior for lawns
This stuff is excellent for the lawn. I would not waste it on potted. A cheap approach to potted plants would be to mix in those little moisture beads tou get at the dollar store. Mix a tablespoon full in the bottom third of your container so water will be "ABSORBED AND SAVED" for later

Applies easy but a bit pricey in Canada / 4 stars for now
I was really looking for the liquid, as they only had the granular available, I thought I'd give it a try. Previous years have had some very hot/dry periods that really stresses lawns in the neighborhood without extensive watering, so hoping this helps. I used 2 x 3lb bags to cover approx. 2000-2500 sq ft. and I am currently only using non-synthetic fertilizers including alfalfa, kelp and humic acid on the lawn. The product was easy to apply using a rotary spreader and I covered the lawn in 2 directions at a lower setting for even coverage . The weather in this part of the country has been extremely cooperative this year, so its harder to judge currently how much this product is factoring into the lawn. Hotter and dryer weather is expected for August so I will have to wait to give a final verdict on it. As my lawn is currently greener and less stressed looking than some of other lawns in the area with only occasional hose watering and rain, I'll give it 4 stars for now. Last summer would have been a better test period, as I had to use the sprinklers frequently.
