It’s very comprehensive dictionary
The media could not be loaded. I bought this dictionary from Amazon, vendor is good,it took about 7 days to get in the usps ,very comprehensive Dictionary,i don’t know why other people complained about the size,it’s big and I am glad it’s big with lots of information in it,my understanding is if a book is small than you can’t have much of the information, right?,so it’s not something that you can carry everyday in your backpack,it has to have a dedicated table for it,I am very happy with my purchase, love it

The Best Dictionary
This is the best dictionary I have ever owned and is indispensable for anyone who writes articles and essays. It is comprehensive with parts of speech, word forms, clear definitions of the different senses, and etymology. I found the illustrating examples particularly useful. The individual definitions are written clearly without excess verbiage. This hefty tome is bigger than and superior to most cheaper dictionaries but worth the extra money.

Perfect!
If you are looking for a perfect dictionary, then this is it. Every word has a detailed meaning and examples of how to use it. Some other Oxford dictionaries, such as the Oxford American Dictionary for learners of English, don't include many important words, which can be frustrating. There is a paperback version of this dictionary. However, I am not sure whether it includes all the entries and corresponding details.

Mildly Dated, But Still Great in 2024
I wish OED produced another edition near 2020, as this 3rd ed. was published in 2010. But I am overall very satisfied with this product — I recommend this product for the tactile learner; a 3D dictionary encodes the words into my mind better than most 2D phone / tablet / PC modes. Combining both modern tech + a hefty dictionary does me even better. Highly recommend this extensive tome of a dictionary: 12/10.

Smaller font; not up to date excluding some English words
It is a nice dictionary to refer to whenever writing. The words visco-supplementation (referred to in today's language as gel injections) nor others used currently appear in the dictionary. It is probably better to look up the spelling of those words and such on-line and utilize a hard copy thesaurus instead, which I may eventually purchase. This book is large so only feasible if placed near you where you can turn the pages without having to lift up the book.

Bigger than Concise version. Has roadside
Love it. Its a beautifull dictionary. Im glad i chose this over the concise version which i thought was the full version, but when i went on wikipedia it said the concise was based off this (ODE) oxford dictionary of english.• Its as big phisically as "The American Heritage". ODE is supposed to have more "enteries"• the pages are "off white" vs the heritage (white)• all words, no pictures Love it!. The Heritage has some colors and some images• slight ghosting from the other side of the page. NON-DISTRACTINGHappy to have it.

This Review is Specific to Hardcover Version not Kindle
The "Oxford Dictionary of English" is great and a must have in my opinion. If however, you are looking for an American-English dictionary, you actually want the "New Oxford American Dictionary". The Oxford Dictionary is the only general dictionary (unless a dictionary is specific to a field such as Medical Terminology, etc.) that I allow my students to quote from in papers and speeches. I have heard that some people have had problems with the Kindle edition, which I can neither confirm or deny since I do not use Kindle, so you may want to look at some of the one star ratings in particular if you are thinking of getting the Kindle version.
