Excellent
Excellent product that functions as described. It holds its shape well and s easy to work with. Once dried, the texture is matte, and it hardens efficiently. It can be cut, carved, sanded, or painted on. Thin dried pieces can be brittle and messy, so it's best to clean up before it dries.

Game changer
Wow… I don’t think I’ve ever left a review on Amazon before. I had been struggling with the other paste I tried… I see why this is pricey. Game changer for my art… I’m never going back to the other brand

Have Fun
As an artist, I would say that I like this modeling paste but only for certain textures When I’ve added paint to this, it took the paint very well but the problem I had is knowing how much paint is enough. If I don’t put enough paint (meaning enough to be the same color as the paint I’m putting in) it’ll keep that hard texture that I sometimes want but the problem with that is that it will crack so easily. Now if I do put enough paint, then paint I put in will be the same color as the modeling paste but the texture will not be as thick as I want it to be. It will be thick enough to kinda hold some body but thin enough to eventually fall off the canvas if it’s not flat. I specifically use modeling paste to make flowers so what I get frustrated by is that I’ll have to spend a LOT of time, slowly building up the flowers because if I do it in one sitting, it will crack in the middle when it dries. Also, I don’t like painting over it because it takes extra time, paint gets stuck in the crevices and I don’t like the feel of paint over the texture I made. It’ll lose some texture in that process too. Pros: 1) this is a great amount of modeling paste for your money 2) even keeping the original lid on it, I haven’t had it dry out on me yet 3) really helps to add that texture you are looking for in your paintings Cons: 1) if you don’t know how to use modeling paste, working with this one can be tricky 2) the paste can crack very easily if you do not put enough paint in it and will crack if you build it even slightly thick 3) sometimes isn’t always smooth, even after thoroughly mixing paint within it, there will still be some bumps Photos: 1) the gallon wasn’t damaged when it came in; knew that was a problem for some people 2) the white canvas is what the texture will be if you do not add any paint and just stick some on a canvas 3) the gold canvas is the smoothness you will get when you add a 1:1 ratio of paint to modeling paste 4) the milky white canvas is what it looks like if you want a smoothish texture, note the bumps in there even after really mixing 5) that’s a photo of one of the flowers I made, and I made it in one sitting. As I said earlier is the paste is too thick, it will crack like that when drying. I would like to note that on the outside of the gallon it says to build it up slowly and that you can fill in the cracks but personally I don’t like doing either lol. Overall I don’t regret this buy and I’ve had fun with it so far. My suggestion would be that if this is your first time using modeling paste, use the hobby lobby brand modeling paste. It takes a lot of paint to get the color you want but you will not have to worry about it cracking. If you want a rougher texture though, this company paste is perfect. P.S. I did not go to an art college so I was never taught how to properly use this nor could I find good YouTube videos on how to use so everything I mentioned was through trial and error.

For a thicker acrylic paint consistency.
Good to get a thicker consistency for thin acrylic paints, especially when using a palette knife to put paint down.

You get what you pay for
I wanted to make paintings with texture, so they are 3d and more exciting. This was perfect. It is easy to work with and can be used for many craft projects. The possibilities of designs and textures are endless using different brushes, spatulas or anything laying around. I layered this on wood circles very thick to create the illusion of a 0lanet with craters. It was completely dry after 24 hours. I used it as the white it comes as and mixed it with acrylic paint. It worked great both ways. The only downside mixing in with acrylic paint is you use more paint than expected and you have to take time to make sure it is mixed evenly and the color is opaque all the way through. Then I used modge pod for a top coat/sealer. It is pricey and I ended up buying a second one after running out of the first $30 container after about 4 projects. You get what you pay for. I have tried other things in the past but they did not work as well.

Nice acrylic filler
This appears to be a very versatile product to use with acrylic paints. I used it to repair a broken leg on a porcelain bunny. After using a fast drying glue to hold the leg in place, I used the modeling paste to fill the gaps left by some small missing pieces. When it dried it was very hard. I sanded it down with very fine sandpaper and painted over that with Liquitex paint that matched the bunny. In retrospect I should have mixed the modeling paste and paint together and used that to fill the cracks. Anyway, I was impressed with how firmly it dried and how well it accepted sanding afterwards.

Fantastic texture medium—worth the splurge if you need quality
Liquitex Modeling Paste is a high-quality, professional-grade medium that delivers excellent texture, sculptability, and durability. It’s a go-to for serious artists, crafters, and modelmakers. However, if you’re budget-conscious or working on lightweight substrates, consider the Light or Flexible versions—or accept the price for premium results. Pro Tip: Keep the lid airtight and use palette knives or offset tools for best application. Let each layer dry partially before adding more to avoid shrinkage.
