The ultimate skill
My motivation for reading this book is two fold. Firsltly, learning how to learn is the ultimate meta skill. I think of that classic quote “If I only had an hour to chop down a tree, I would spend the first 45 minutes sharpening my axe.” – Abraham Lincoln. Why not find out the most practical and effective way to learn and retain information and then apply that foundation to all of the things you want to lern and understand moving forward? And why not stat at the very beginning with a book that you wish you had had 20+ years ago.Secondly, I now have a daughter of my own and I hope that by learning the contents of this book I will be able to help her in practical and meaningful ways as she begins her life as a life long learner. This book is a fabulous resource for both. Not only is it succint, and packed full of pratical and applicable tips. Its written in a language that will make it easy for my daughter to understand and for me to explain. Its the perfect foundation as I now move on to more 'adult' resources - 'A mind for numbers' 'Deep work' 'So good they cant ignore you' 'Limitless' 'Remember it' 'Mastery' 'The art of learning'.I definitely recommend this book.

one of the best books on learning how to learn
This is the best book that I have read on learning how to learn. I have studied to masters degree level, and I have learned some of the things described in this book the hard way. I wish I had had this book when I started studying.I'm now trying to explain studying to a teenager. As a result, I have read around 10 books on learning techniques. This is by far the best. It describes learning how to learn in a very approachable way, and gives very good advice. The book is based on the latest psychological research, and there are many references at the back if you wish to go further.I thoroughly recommend this book for both teenagers and adults.

Insights for learning and being more productive
A brilliant book, I bought this to translate some of the concepts and ideas from the Learning to Learn course for my son. It is an entertaining read and had great insight into how we learn and what really works when tackling any subject.

Unlock your brain no matter what your age
All those how-to-study books I read back in the day meant nothing because they never explained how to LEARN. In this book Dr. Oakley explains how to learn in a fun, interesting way. I bought this book as a companion to the book for adults, "A Mind For Numbers" in case I couldn't understand something in the adult-level book. No worries there. This book, the kids book, is full of practical how-to, useful tips and encouragement. The method is not elaborate and it works. Explanations are amusing and do-able for anyone, even neuro-diverse types. I've sent copies to several teens and have recommended this book to more than one person. Likely a life-changing book for that kid you're worried about.

Fantastic read
If you thought you knew everything about teaching and learning then think again! This book allows for a complete reflection as well as giving you the science behind some of the things we tell our students to do. Now you can tell them why.

Great way to learn for every age!
Wonderful idea. Wish I'd been taught how to learn before my exams!

Good tips for making studying and memorising easier
I read this as an adult but I guess the target audience is for teenagers and above. I recommend it to parents who would like to help their children in their studies.
