Painless Setup
My main computer has been a 12-year-old HP Envy with an Intel i7 processor and a 3 TB hard Drive running Windows 10 64 bit. This has been a reliable machine. I think it came with Windows 8. I upgraded to 10 for free when it first came out. Before moving into this retirement home, I had my wife's computer as a backup but there was no room in here for that. I do all my banking, investments and writing on this machine. My concern is that Microsoft will stop supporting Windows 10 soon, and this computer cannot support Windows 11. I needed a back up that did not take up a lot of space. I read all the reviews on the Beelink MIN S12, and despite the concerns about the lack of support and other issues encountered by some, most of the comments were positive and I ordered it. It arrived quickly and in good shape. Like most, I was impressed by the solid appearance. I had hoped to hang it on the back of a new24 24-inch Samsung Monitor. The included bracket for doing that came with screws that were too short to use on the top holes on the back of the monitor and barely grabbed on the bottom holes. In that position it would be very awkward to reach the “off” button let alone the USB ports. In any case, the supplied HDMI cable was too short (10 inches) to reach the port on the monitor. Despite suggestions to create a “local user” during first start-up with the internet disconnected, I figured most people were not doing that, and honestly, I don't know how to do it and didn't feel like researching it. I plugged in the new monitor, added a dongle for the new wireless keyboard and mouse, and connected wirelessly to my modem. Everything seemed to be copacetic. I jumped through the usual Microsoft hoops getting Windows going. I had no hassle with registration. It seems to be automatic. I downloaded my essential programs without difficulty and set up all my necessary site links. Everything works fine so far. Although the computer comes with 500GB of memory, in a bit of overkill I added a one terabit Crucial SSD. Since this is about the size of a business card, I was able to plug it into the back of the computer and let it dangle off the back out of sight. Since the small cable that came with the Crucial was C at both ends I used a small adapter to attach it. Given the awkwardness of attaching to the remaining two USB ports, I attached a 7-port USB hub to one of them. The only problem I have had has been trying to create a recovery drive, but this was a Windows issue. When I tried to do that, the process locked up with the progress bar showing about 10% done. I ended up with two 64 GB thumb drives with partitions on them that I can only reformat individually. All in all, I am very happy with the purchase. There was a minimum of pain and stress and I ended up with a tidy, small footprint setup.

Nice little computer
Installed this to replace a tower computer in an office. It’s very capable. Installation instructions are skimpy so there is a fair amount of internet searching required if you need to do anything sophisticated during setup. Be aware that the video system works fine with a UHD monitor but will not always drive lower resolution monitors to their full resolution. I initially hooked it up to the QHD monitor that was working well with the previous machine and several laptops and it would not recognize the monitor’s capabilities and would not supply full resolution. I had to buy a new UHD monitor and it worked fine.

Great Value replacement Mini Desktop PC with Windows 11 installed!
This is my second Beelink purchase. Made a great replacement for the old desktop that can't upgrade to Windows 11. Excellent performance and easy to install. Excellent processing speed and plenty of memory for average users. Plenty of ports for accessories and easily upgraded if desired.
