TAMIYA35068 1/35 British Chieftain Mk5

Tamiya has always been known for quality and attention to detail, in all their products. Their 1/35 scale models and figures are some of the best available. Some items can be a bit pricey so check around.

The Chieftan is an older kit from the 1970's and is still an excellent choice for novices or old hands. The 120mm main gun is wrapped in a thermal blanket and is khaki in color to the eye. The Chieftan had a mixed combat history with many destroyed in the Middle East. Give this one a 5 for overall satisfaction.

Good kit. Nothing really spectacular or special about this kit. Good build and doesn’t take up much time to build.

Classic tank from Cold War Era. great detailing. tracks, suspension. Looks like it could roll right off you shelf and into the Garden

This is a Tamiya 1/35 scale kit of the British Army Chieftan MK5 main battle tank. This kit came out in the late 1970s-early 1980s. The hull will have holes in it for, back in those days, Tamiya use to include a small motor with their kits. This so that the kit could move around on its own. The holes were for the ON/OFF switch to protrude from. There is NO little motor included in this kit anymore.Kit comes with: 1 piece track shoes with good detail on both sides; 3 crew figures(1/2 driver, 3/4 commander, 3/4 loader); posable hatches; search lights; anti-aircraft machine gun; 2-piece main gun barrel; 2 instruction sheets (1 in Japanese & 1 in English/German). Instructions were easy to read/follow and had a good history of vehicle in multiple languages. Decals were good and were provided for 3 vehicle. Paint/decal placement suggestions provided.This was one of those model kits that I really did not have any interest in for whatever reason. One day, got tired of building WWII armored vehicles and wanted something different. Looked on Amazon way back in those ancient days of early 2000s and saw this offered relatively inexpensive. Bought it and kit actually sat in a closet for about 3 years before I built it. This was an AWESOME kit to build!!!! Again, for such an older kit, there were NO fit problems anywhere!! Only real problem I encountered (and that was my fault) was inserting the main gun barrel into its holding cradle - was not paying attention to what I was doing and it sits just a little off a bit.This would be a great kit for younger persons, or others, to build for kit went together quite easily. Parts count is low and can be built in a weekend. Remember that this is a plastic model kit and construction is required. Paint/glue not included. There are currently more "accurate" and up-to-date model kits of this vehicle offered by other manufacturers but, if you do not want to pay all those crazy prices and deal with about a ga-billion parts in modern kits, this is the kit for you.

One of Tamiya's lower priced kits but still good quality and fun to build. Virtually no interior but poly caps to allow for moving wheels & parts a great help. Plastic a little shiny from molding but a dull coat works well. Some smaller parts and very difficult to make antennas following instructions (plastic tends to shrink than stretch). One NOTE - using glue from tube a little too clumsy so use the version with the fine needle-like applicator instead as it shows up better in finished result.All in all a good kit and decided to paint and make close to one of the 3 options for painting + decals. Still its unique and returning to modeling after many years REALLY enjoyed this kit and bought a German Leopard from the same 1960-1970's era to start a collection.

Great kit from Tamiya. Very well moulded and everything fitted together perfectly. The figures are a nice touch and add realism to the finished model.
