Awesome pocket knife!
I must say this is the most satisfying pocket knife I have yet owned. The pocket clip is adjustable, the steel is good and it is not so expensive and pretty that I am scared to use it and yet it is a handsome piece. This knife has just the right amount of heft and blade for me. Fits well in the hand with a secure grip and does well striking with a ferro rod if needed. Well done Ontario!

Very Happy With This Knife.
Just received the RAT 1. THIS is a lot of knife for the money. The clip is secure, and the weight rides well in my jeans. There is no blade wiggle Thanks to the steel liners. The grind was very even, and the blade was well centered. The scales were very attractive, and the fit and finish was damn near perfect. The liner lock is not as fool proof as some locking systems, but serves it's purpose adequately. I have relatively small hands, and would wear a medium glove. For me,this is a 2 hand opener, rather than a flick knife. That bothers me not in the least, but it might be important to you. P.S. I can flick open the RAT 2 using it's thumb stud, but i just can't get the leverage on the RAT 1. Buyer Beware. P.S. AGAIN---------It just bit me. Yeah,i was playing with it.

A quality knife for a bargain price
You honestly won't find a better quality knife for the price of this Rat 1. I really like this knife a lot.The flipping action with the thumb stud is as smooth as silk and very easy to open and lock every time. The blade (at least mine) already came extremely sharp and needed no additional sharpening. The clip can go on either side and clips at the top. The thumb stud is on both sides of the blade however, the blade lock release is on the right of the handle making it somewhat right hand bias knife. This particular knife was a limited run with the D2 steel. Not all Ontario Rat 1 or 2's are D2 steel. Make sure you're checking the model numbers. The D2 steel is outstanding by the way!I wear a size Large glove and this fits very comfortably in my hand with about a 1/2 inch of the handle sticking out from the bottom of my hand. The handle is hard plastic with a slight texturing to it. Not extra snug or grippy but easy to handle and hold on to. Theres also a lanyard hole on the bottom too.If you're looking for a good quality knife with extra durable D2 tool steel, without spending too much, you found it. Grab the Ontario Rat 1 and see for yourself what all the reviewers are talking about.

Great Value, Great Quality
Bought Rat I - great size, even for EDC. I prefer a longer knife which is why I went with this one instead of the Rat II (I like this one so much I'll probably buy the Rat II now as well). D2 blade holds a keen edge. Stropped it when I first bought it and have only had to touch it up (on strop) a couple of times since. I use it for general everyday stuff...boxes, food, woodworking, zip ties, etc. I like the profile and edge, it would probably make a great skinning knife as well.No issues with the D2 blade tarnishing. I just wipe it off on my pants when I'm done using it and it's good to go. I can definitely tell a difference in edge holding vs some other stainless blades I have. Best sub $50 knife I've seen.

Best general purpose knife I have so far. Tough as nails.

Awesome value!
This isn’t my first Rat, I’ve had a 2 for several years. Great work knife, high enough quality to get the job done but priced low enough that I don’t mind being a little rough on it. I’ve always said the Ontario Rat was the king of the beaters. I personally prefer the size of the 1 because I have very large hands but most of my friends prefer the feel of the 2, can’t go wrong either way!

Amazing knife and the best bang for your buck
I love OKC knives. They really do well at making amazing knives for the price without nickle and dime-ing like every other brand does. Amazing budget folder that I bought the Rat 2 for my dad, wanted one as well so I got me the Rat 1. Aus 8 vs D2 is irrelevant to me, both have pros and cons and I could live with either.I will be customizing my knife as Way of the knife sells replacement blades, or might just stonewash the knife, and dye the scales Red.I strongly recommend the Rat 1 or 2 for anyone looking for a better folder (not to say other brands options at the price range are bad, but OKC imo makes a quality budget knife to compete with)

Great knife. Not so great box.
When I opened the package and saw the box I thought the knife would be damaged. The knife arrived in a box that looked like hell. Could I have been sent a previously returned knife? Likely since it looks like it was used for kickball practice in the shipping warehouse. Certainly didn’t look like it was still new in box from the factory.I received it from Wisemen Trading.I got in a different Rat 1 a few days ago from a different seller. (BladeHQ). The box from that order looked like new, off the shelf. Certainly didn’t look like it had been used for kickball practice. It also had more protective oil on it from the factory. In other words, 100% certainty that it was a brand new knife.Thankfully the knife wasn’t damaged and had a decent edge. I sharpened it to hair popping sharp.Great knife. Awful box.
