The UPS man delivered disappointment
I bought this book for my kids to add to our Halloween/spooky book collection. If I'm honest, I ordered it because the cover looked cute. I hoped it would be captivating and maybe a humorous, but when it was delivered, I was disappointed. My first impression when I received the book was that the cover wasn't quite as cute in person as it was online because it was a hard, glossy cover, and not printed on a jacket or done with a matte finish, but I wasn't bothered. The inside cover and the title page are very pretty, which make up for my lack of satisfaction with the cover in-person.Inside the book, there are more words thank I expected on the pages, which I like, but I found the capitalization choices to be odd and I was bothered by the lack of comma use during some of the dialogue and after prepositional phrases. It really distracted me while reading. I literally want to go through the book and place commas throughout. I also don't like the font the story is written in. Combined, my impression was that the book was written by an amateur author. My husband commented that the story ended abruptly and lacked a good ending. The picture on the back cover of the ghost at 2 years old was very oddly placed considering where the story left off. Overall, I'm very disappointing in this book purchase, especially considering how much it costs and how long waited for delivery. It looks as though the story didn't go through the editing process.

Even great for infants!
This book is great. Halloween is my favorite holiday and I read this to my five month old. She likes it because it’s somewhat high contrast and I look forward to it’s longevity in our house given the story line and content.

Gorgeous book with sweet storyline
The images in this book are very pretty, and I like the book's message about friendship and turning a potentially sour situation into a happy one. My just-turned-two-year-old daughter has been asking to read it every night. She likes Gilbert's cat friend. I do wonder if Gilbert's parents ever hear from him, though...
