I've been using Real Techniques facial sponges/applicators for a year or so and I really like how my foundation sits after using them. This limited edition box of multiple sizes, shapes and textures is great as a gift item but, for me, I would get more value for money buying the sponges I really wanted.The box contains the popular pointed cylindrical shaped sponge which I am very familiar with and this works beautifully for me. There are also two matching smaller sponges in purple which are great for areas like around the nose and eyes or to keep for eye make-up application. The diamond one is larger and has angles so that it can be used for multiple products on the same sponge – primer, foundation, powder etc. The only one I really didn't like was the large flat red one, the 'miracle complexion sponge'. It feels like the chicken fillet bra inserts and is too smooth to move foundation on the face, it just seems to skim over the cream and leave it in one place.I always dampen the sponges prior to use and I get really good results with all the sponges with the exception of the bottom red one. Because of this, or if you don't like some of the shapes, I think it is better to buy the individual ones you really like.

This is a colourful, eye-catching sponge set, designed to appeal to the younger user.I found them okay for application, but not the best I have tried. A good set for young teens who appreciate novelty and are generally a bit wasteful of makeup, as they experiment so much anyway.More experienced make up wearers will probably want to invest in a higher quality, easy to clean sponge blender. These aren't bad at at all, but you get what you pay for.

We've used these sponges before, and found the good for blending and last pretty well, but not these sizes or all the shapes.The small blue ones seemed a bit firm out of the packet, but softened up and expanded once wetted. These are good for smoothing foundation speciality the skin under the eyes. The larger yellow sponge is good for bigger areas but the fine point is helpful for fine application. The red jelly like spreader was good for just that, getting a god distribution of foundation around the face to then be fine blended with a sponge.A nice mixed pack well presented would make a nice small gift.
