Tarantulas And Scorpions in Captivity (Professional Breeders)

Better books available
The author of this book was way ahead of his time when he published earlier works: A Color Guide to the Tarantulas Volumes 1 and 2. At that time, those were the only books to see photos of some of the species included. This book however, is behind the times. The photos are generally not as good as you'd see in other books or online. You can find similar general information almost anywhere. In general, I object to tarantula books that outline individual care for many different species, when they are so frequently similar. In short, there are better books out there. I'd say get Tarantula Keeper's Guide by Schultz and Schultz, which costs about the same and is by far the best book available on the subject.

Use this at work, HIGHLY recommend.
After looking for many easy to understand care guides to teach our volunteers with, I found this. Thank goodness. HIGHLY recommend for anyone wanting actually useful information on care and breeding your arachnids.

For Beginners only
This book is for beginners, or someone considering Tarantulas or scorpions as pets and I give this book a lower rating for a few small reasons. For one, you will read this book through in one sitting, especially if you are not interested in scorpions as the back portion of the book is dedicated to a fair amount of info and species accounts of scorpions, however if you are interested in both, this book is for you! Also, although the front cover says "professional breeders series" it hardly offers much in the line of breeding info or methods on Tarantulas and it really cannot anyway, as breeding tarantulas has only been attempted since somewhere in the 80's, and very little info is available on the techniques needed to breed many but the most popular species. This book does however have a nice bunch of photos and species accounts of the more popular species for enthusiasts, however I would suggest acquiring more books on the subject if one was to get serious about these creatures as a hobby or pet.

A decent enough book. More info available online these days but good my daughter to have on her kindle because she love tarantulas.

Straight forward but lacking detail
Could do with a little more information and detail, although what is presented is sufficient to get a beginner started in the hobby.
