Takes a long time to read temperature - up to ...
After the fact. Upon reading the five star reviews, I found a striking similarity among many of them. To quote "I received this product free of charge, for my honest & unbiased review." It now appears to me that I bought a very cheap thermometer being aggressively marketed by way of high rated "solicited" reviews" at a much higher price than it should sell for or is worth.If true, SHAME ON ME, or should I say SHAME ON AMAZON for letting this happen. I am changing my original review from two stars to one star.Takes a long time to read temperature - up to 3 minutes according to the instruction sheet. My other digital does it in well under a minute with about the same results orally. There was a .2 degree difference. No way of telling which one was more accurate. Instruction sheet could be more informative about the differences in readings to be expected from oral, rectal, and under arm, as well as contain information about the small variations in body temperature to be expected at different times of the day, which it does not include. Made in China. Subjective: Felt flimsier than my older American made digital purchased locally a couple of years ago for less money.

BUYER BEWARE! The amazing reviews this thermometer has are written by the manufacturer. It's clear as day if you start reading through them - 50+ reviews that all say exactly the same thing, and were written by the same person: "As a mom...", "I love the clear plastic case," "display is easy to read" .....Anyway, this cheap thermometer is available as an add on here on Amazon for $5. They want you to pay $20 for the same thing, because of the reviews they flooded their page with.Don't buy this! Save yourself money! And if you did buy this, please add your own negative reviews.

No better than a $5 model.
EDITED: Bought this thermometer based on reviews on Amazon. Unfortunately, it is no better than the $5 cheapo thermometers you can buy at the drugstore.Admittedly, my first review had one star, as it performed poorly. The seller replied (see comments to this review) and very nicely sent me new batteries -- AND an additional new thermometer, in case the first one was defective.The result was .. both of them are just mediocre. I did a few tests, where I'd take the two TOP Thermometers, plus a cheapo drug store one and stick them all in my mouth at the same time. Generally, all of them arrived at the same temp, plus or minus .2 degrees. They were all relatively slow in arriving at the final temp. I repeated this test twice on me, once on my wife. Same results.But I imagine everyone buying this TOP Thermometer is expecting something that works significantly better than the cheapo ones, as the price being charged is significantly higher. It does not work better.Note: I was VERY pleased with excellent customer service, though.Summary: Average thermometer. Move along. Sorry.

Never produced an accurate reading. My son was diagnosedVery very disappointed with this product it never produced an accurate reading. My son had the flu 102 temp per a doctor's visit. I did not have a thermometer in the house. I quickly researched them on Amazon along with their reviews and chose this one I received it in 2 days. The readings on my son even on myself never made sense. I'm not sick but I had a temp of 100, my son who is sick had a temp of 96. I have since returned the thermometer for a full refund. I would have given this product a 0 rating but I don't believe that is even an option, the reviews online are obviously bogus.

Never worked
After a late night call to the nurse line, I was told that the forehead thermometer we were using was not very accurate on babies, so I purchased this one. I tried it on my husband, me, and my 3 month old baby, but the gauge never read higher than 97.1 degrees.

Poor quality thermometer
Not a good experience. Had it a month, used it twice. Temp reading probably accurate ( who knows?). But as many others have said, I was unable to hear the beeps telling you when the temperature was reached. Also, the thermometer broke the 3rd time I used it.... No reading at all on it. Amazon as usual is being great in returning it, but one would hope it would last longer than a month.

Inaccurate (and thus useless)
The first time I felt sick after buying two of these, I took my temperature with three thermometers: my old (non-electronic) one, and the two of these. The readings-in that order-were: 99.3, 97.5, 98.2 F (37.4, 36.4, 36.8 C). I knew I was sick, and my old trusted thermometer confirmed that. These two new ones both showed no fever. Even if I dismissed my old one, and thought these were more accurate, the difference of 0.7F (0.4C) from two supposedly identical units is too much of discrepancy.

Accurate thermometer, but takes too long
The thermometer works well, but my only complaint is that it takes over 90 seconds to complete taking the measurements. The product description said it would take a minute (so this performs 50% worse than advertised). When using it with kids, they sometimes get impatient rather quickly...
