24 ounces will fit into the bowl. Anymore than that and it will overflow. You could add a few more tablespoons of liquid but it is at the tip top.

How safe is it pouring hot things in to it? Toxicity level?

Yes. Just like you would pour hot things into a china bowl. I have used these for hot soup.

Can these be used in the microwave?

No. They are made of a kind of plastic, melamine resin, that can char in the microwave and give off toxic fumes.

It fits between the dishwasher tines and they are beautiful and STURDY!

2 inches. Most cereal bowls are not 2 inches high. They are much more. But I love putting our cereal bowls , one next to the other, stacked in the dishwasher. However, most bowls are too high. These are not only perfect, they are some of the most beautiful melamine bowls I have seen. They are weighty. Surprisingly. I thought at first they made a mistake and sent me ceramic bowls! The pattern is beautiful and they stack wonderfully. I highly recommend!
