Good tool for the price
Roughly made for a Crown product but, with a little TLC it becomes a version that often sells for twice the price. There were things like a ridge where the finish met the un-eased edges, a bit of tearout where the hole was made but, functionally pretty good. The beam could have fit the hole better but, in the directions that count it is reliable.I have several wheel gauges but, wanted a knifed one. If you're looking for something a little nicer, check Lee Valley for this format tool. If you want a metal version of the typical wheel gauge, the Veritas Anniversary or a Tite-Mark would be my go-to.

Pretty to look at
I have only had it a short while and it haven't got a lot of use out of it yet. However, the blade came sharp, it seems to be pretty square out of the box, and the screw tip and threads are clean. On top of that it's pretty to look at.

Dull!
I have crayons that are sharper than this blade. It’s small , making it a bit cumbersome to remove as much metal as it will take to create a sharp bevel and I’m suspicious of the steel. We’ll see. The rest of the body is fine.

Once cleaned off the slide action of the beam through the fence is fine. Next
I've come to believe that most low-priced mass-manufactured hand tools today are really more of a "kit" than a ready-to-use item. This gauge is no exception. It was enthusiastically lacquered but a wipe down with lacquer thinner fixed that. Once cleaned off the slide action of the beam through the fence is fine. Next, my idea of sharp and most tool manufacturer's idea of sharp are widely different. But a few moments at the stones and the cutter was working like it should. Also, I prefer the cutter to have a U shape instead of a V shape but also easily altered. All in all, a quite usable cutting gauge. One can never have too many marking/cutting gauges.

Not quite the quality I expected
Was expecting a little better quality

Poor Quality
Very disappointing for a Crown product. Channel for beam has a lot of wood filler filler and unfilled gouges as well.
