Pork Pate - 5.4oz [Pack of 3]

This is the first pate of French kids, but even as adults every one still keeps it in their cupboard! Why? It's tender and succulent and savory. It's made with the best cuts of the ham.I would say that if what is called Spam in the US went to college and got a PhD, it would become pate Henaff!It's a little less than half this price over in France, but sometimes I need a taste of home.C'est si bon!

Years ago my mom and I were marooned in Perigord after she suffered a heart attack. To keep her from giving up while enduring the most unappetizing hospital food (boiled endives, farina and chicken broth, anyone?) I smuggled various delicacies into her room, among which were small cans of pork pate like this. If you remember Underwood Chicken and Deviiled Ham Spreads, pates like this resemble those, but are much better. This pate is very meaty but it also contains pork fat and liver, plus bay leaf and other seasonings. It isn't too salty and is very hearty, especially spread on crisp baguette. Alongside grapes or strawberries and a cool Cremant d'Alsace, it is pique-nique food at its best.
