I want to place these in closets with frosted glass doors - will motion be detected through the glass?

Yes, for regular glass material, it's OK; but not for high boron glass. Please make sure your door is not made from high boron glass if you want it to work when you are outside the door.

What switch should I get??

These lights are automatic, so they don't need any switch. They mount directly to the electrical box, (usually ceiling) and are hard wired in. They are very sensitive and mine seems to stay ON for about 2 mins before it shuts off. If you don't like the automatic feature, I guess you could still use it with a wall controlled switch. AND turn it off or on at the wall, but that kind of defeats the automatic feature purpose. If you still want a wall control, switch, Any regular standard 120 V ac single throw light switch would work, but you would need to run wires to the light box. Don't recommend a dimmer switch, might work, not sure.
