Newfie seal of Approval!!
Folks,, I am a K9 trainer with 30+yrs of experience in training and raising large/XL/Giant breeds from everything such as SAR, Service, etc.. to simple house companions and have gone thru many different types (even second hand store old school stuff!) of bowls. I bought two of these bowls recently and must say, I'm impressed. These are the candy Apple red bowls in the 50oz size. For comparison, the puppy you see is "Caspian" (mine), he is a 12 week old purebred Newfoundland that is 41bs (at the time of this review 12/18). Not his best photo, but who has good photos at 3:20 in the morning? lol - Pics are REAL in use, photos of the product you get. You of course have to un-package the bowl(s), pull the tag off and wash it/them before use.Since Newfoundlands are considered XL/Giant breeds, their "bling" needs to be tough so I had to keep in mind that 90% of you reading this have much smaller animals and those that do? you need to know this from a one of THOSE owners.. So I'm giving you my full evaluation on how tough, durable, and "sheik" they are :0}1) I had read the previous reviews about the ring issue. I believe it may be a generic ring up to a certain size then another larger standard size ring is used. Mine came intact. It's easy to get off and washable for a thorough cleaning. I suggest using a cpl cotton swabs to do the job right. It does its job admirably in keeping the bowl from skidding on a hard wood floor and almost immovable on a carpeted floor.2) The finish is nice and uniform. Not perfect but who really worries about the finish of the bottom of an $11 dog bowl. ONLY USE soft but scruffy type of sponges (dollar store is good enough) on the cleaning of the bowl itself. Don't allow the food to harden up like glue. While I have not had a problem with it doing so, it's best for simple up-keep, longevity, sterility, and your sanity!3) They are light weight. These are not thick and heavy ("gauge" thickness) which is the only "con" I can really pick on. Newfs are gentle and huge. Some smaller breeds can be brutal on bowls which may make them (the bowls) subject to damage if bitten hard or treated harshly enough. Even then they will most likely take on only visual damage because the design won't really allow a dog's jaw to chew on them.4) They have a wide base which keeps them from tipping as well as skidding. A lumbering puppy such as a Newf can make any bowl look silly and unstable but these hold up to the task extremely well.Lastly?? get them singularly or a pair. While they might feel flimsy to some of us, they feel tough to others. So it's truly a matter of the pooch's "destructiveness" or lack thereof. I've had and have seen plastic bowls 2x thicker get destroyed, slip, tip, etc.. in short order. Under normal use, these are worth every penny and I'll be buying more again. I hope this has helped those of you out in making an informed decision on whether to get these or not.

They chip
These are beautiful bowls and were easy to clean. I have used them for a while. I was told they were made in USA which is a HUGE deal to me. Well only the powder coating is made here. I have three sets, two medium (Aussie size) one small (yorkie size). I Lao have four assorted sizes to feed them with. These bowls shown have only contained water and my Yorkie doesn’t wear a collar. They are starting to chip. I have also felt the bottom of the pans starting to feel as if the coating is rough and wearing. Which means under the coating is an outsourced pan NOT a USA product, which I’m extremely uncomfortable with.In all fairness the bowl shown is an older bowl. It is maybe two/years old. Before I knew that they outsourced the pans and only powder coated them I bought two more bowls, a huge one and a small one as I planned on replacing the other bowls.I called Platinum Pet and got someone who couldn’t tell me much about the pans before they got them just they were not made here in the USA but they did sterilize them before they powder coated them. They couldn’t even tell me of the metal of the bowl was 18/8 or 304 food grade (human grade). Just kept saying it’s food grade.I am extremely disappointed in the knowledge and customer service and the fact that they don’t tell you the whole story about them. Even there email is (platinumpetsUSA.com) or something like thatI have loved these pans/ feeder but will be ordering from a company that has the information that I need to feel comfortable with feeding my fur kids from their bowls. What a wonderful product if only you made the pans here and human grade food safe.

Bowl is good, but ring is incomplete!
The bowl itself is very nice - SUPER HUGE! (I ordered the XL). No dents or chips. However, like many other reviewers, the black ring on the bottom is not complete. It actually looks like it was cut incorrectly, as it is a clean break and I don't see the rest of it anywhere within the packaging or box. As this is going on tile floor, I really need a complete ring so it doesn't fall off and/or slide when my 93lb lab digs in. I will be seeing about a replacement and will try to update my review after that.***Update: I requested a replacement and (after almost a week of waiting - sorry, but replacements due to seller error on here should always be free two-day shipping) received it...and it too was missing that same chunk of rubber. Honestly, it could have easily been the same exact bowl I sent back! Luckily, Amazon chat gave me a full refund and I ordered the same bowl elsewhere (where it was also less expensive). Clearly this is a manufacturing issue since so many people have had similar experiences. I ordered two other bowls (same size and style, just different colors) from other sellers at the same time of my original purchase of this one - funny how I had no issues with them!Dearest Platinum Pets: These bowls are so awesome, please fix this rubber ring issue before you lose clients! I browsed the reviews on Chewy and saw no mention of ring issues there, so please investigate whoever you are using for your Amazon fulfillment!

Only dog bowls I trust
When we knew we were getting a new puppy, We did a hours and hours of research to make sure he was getting not only the best bowls but the safest for his health. We knew we wanted to go the stainless steel right for sure, but didn’t realize how hard it was to find a stainless steel dog bowl made in the USA. Once we found platinum pets and did more research we knew they were going to be perfect for our pup. We have had them for over 6 months now and still love them! I will forever be a customer of this brands bowls!

Stylish and Practical
Bought this for my puppy. It can be used for water or food and is very hard to tip over. Have washed it with soapy water and it still looks good. Don't know if it will go in the dishwasher, as the label on the bottom smudged and became illegible when wet. My only concern is whether the black colour will come off with use. Hope it doesn't! This bowl was a similar price to local pet shop, but saved me the journey, so not bad value at all.

Cute !
Great product. Bought it for my puppy at 6 weeks and she is still happily using it now at 17 weeks. Will probably have to consider buying a bigger one soon but for now it's still a perfect size. The colour is nice and bright, and a rubber ring around the bottom stops it from slipping and ending up by the door when the dog is eating. Highly recommended for puppies, cats and smaller breeds who don't need an awful lot of food

Lovely food bowl.
We love this food bowl for our puppy and it looks really good in the kitchen. I'm pretty sure this will fit her food in for as long as the bowl lasts. She gets fed three times a day so it might not be big enough for a large dog who is fed twice a day. We ordered two bowls for food and water, but have switched to a bigger bowl for water as we had to keep refilling it. Overall I would recommend.

A disappointment
We've had one of these dog bowls for fewer than six months, located in a shady corner of our kitchen. The cheap rubber base is already perishing and cracking, and I doubt whether it will see this year out.
