Question 1

I want to add this product to my backpack mre kits. What is the shelf life if vaccum sealed?

Accepted Answer

I've also eaten Clif Bars after several years. Not exactly sure how many, but some of them easily could have been in the decade range. No ill effects! They were hard, although some of that was probably from getting crushed at the bottom of bags I carried them around in for years, or in the trunk of a car, or in the pocket of bunker gear. In the past I generally treated them as having an indefinite shelf life, a portable item for an emergency meal, and besides stuff getting a little dry and hard I encountered no problems. The really old ones weren't delicious cuisine, but some of the good taste was preserved. For me, they were fine. Just my experience.

Question 2

Is the texture of these Clif bars hard or soft?

Accepted Answer

They are chewy, never crunchy, but most definitely not soft
A Quaker brand chewy granola bar is most definitely soft. These are much much more dense than those
I've eaten them for years. It takes a little more effort to chew these. It's actually a good thing because they pack so much into the bar. You're not chewing something so soft because there's not a lot of air mixed in
I actually feel I am getting more for my money

Question 3

Is This Vegan?

Accepted Answer

Thanks for your question.

We do not source ingredients from animals in many of our foods.

If the nutrition panel states an animal derived ingredient such as milk, whey, casein or honey, that food is not vegan-friendly or plant-based. We generally consider our foods vegetarian because we don’t use animal meat or fish as an ingredient.

We want you to know that those products with labels that include a statement such as ‘contains’ or ‘may contain’ a major allergen of animal origin, like milk or dairy, may have possible cross-contact with an animal source in the making of our food. Knowing that information, you can decide how comfortable you are in light of your own dietary preferences or dietary restrictions with the risk of possible cross-contact.

I hope this helps. Please feel free to contact our Consumer Care Team for additional help at www.clifbar.com/contact and/or 800-884-5254
