Great fly reel for the price
I purchased the 3/4 weight reel for my 8'6" creek rod. I've been fly fishing for over 35 years now and I've had some of the best rods and reels available in the past but, they were very expensive set ups. This reel is as nice as $200+ fly reels I've used in the past. It's very smooth and the drag is silk smooth also. I haven't taken it out yet to pursue a few trout but, I was impressed enough to write a review before I did use it.

You won't regret this purchase!
This reel is built very well. It has a great finish and looks beautiful matched up to a black 5WT SA rod I have.. The drag and retrieve are both silky smooth. It holds plenty of backing and the 100ft wf5f floating line perfectly. I will be buying another one of these to put on a rod for my dad. I fish a lot of places that are pretty timber covered and rough, I cant see paying hundreds for a fresh water reel because it is a name brand statue symbol, just to get gravel rash and bumped around. This thing performs flawlessly and for a fraction of the price..

Light for a cast aluminum reel.
I got this for < $20 used and intended to cannibalize parts from it for more expensive reels - i.e., spring clicker and possibly washers. When I received it, I was impressed by the potential price/performance ratio and so decided to steal one clicker and give the reel to a friend who can't afford fishing equipment.Pros: Lightweight, mid-arbor (plenty of backing), good machining with tight fitting spool, smooth feeling drag, looks good.Cons: Some cosmetic casting imperfections, uncentered reel foot (line can stack up on one side of the reel during retrieve), relatively large gap where frame meets spool - line can escape guide, exposed rotation plate could allow grit to enter drag mechanism.

surprisingly good
Major brand fly reels are far out of reach cost-wise; this is as good as my $100+ reels. Smooth, good drag, good line capacity (I have the 3/4wt for a 4wt rod)

Quality at value pricing
I mostly fish for trout in tailgaters and didn't want to spend a huge amount for reel that for me is just a line holder for a 11 ft nymphing rod. This reel fit my needs. Well made and its.performance ranks up with reels 5 times it's price. It's drag is smooth and balances my rod perfectly.

Solid Tool.
I have two of these reels, one in 5/6 wt and one n 7/8 wt. For freshwater, warm water fishing these are just a good solid tool. The drag is smooth. They are well build and sleek. I have had 20lb carp test the limits of the drag on the 7/8wt and it held up like a warrior. I don't know if this is a salt water ready reel or not, I don't think it is. But for anything fresh water from sunfish to steelhead, this is a good intro to intermediate level reel. And affordable.

C'est pas l'idéal...
L'ensemble est bien -mais.... après essai il manque une tige en travers pour empêcher la soie de faire un tour du moulinet et te retrouver coincé !

The retrieve is slow and not reversable
Needs reversable and faster retrieve the barbless hooks get shook out if there is slack in line while reeling

Bang for your Buck
This reel and I have been become good friends as of late- I use it as a secondary chronomid rod when I am out stillwater fly fishing. Has proven to be an excellent reel, landing several trout in the 3-4lbs range- great value.

Everything but decent drag.
Machined well, nice balance and smooth. The bearings could be a little faster and the drag is very bad.The drag kept loosening on me when I'd pull line then I'd get big backlash.Besides that, not bad
