Wonderful Protein Alternative
This TVP is amazing. I’m sorry it took to so long to find it. I use it for all things chicken. Just today I made chicken pot pie. So delicious. Just Like Chicken is easy to reconstitute, flavor, cook, and eat in a short time. Great texture. I’ll buy again without question. Thanks for an easy to use tasty protein alternative.

A yummy & affordable cruelty-free protein!
I really love this protein b/c it is low fat and very high protein and very affordable. I also love it b/c I can throw it in the pantry (rather than taking up space in the fridge) and it will still be good for year! It is an excellent meal idea for camping because this protein easily rehydrates within minutes. I rehydrate this in a faux chicken broth and it is delicious. After rehydrating the protein pieces, they are soft and chewy. To get the outside to crisp up you have to sautee or fry them on the stove top. I usually just rehydrate and throw these pieces on top of my salad. Now, the texture is not "just like" chicken. It doesn't pull apart like chicken so it wont fool anyone if you're trying to sneak it into a meal. If you're looking for an animal-free, cruelty-free plant based protein that DOES look and taste like chicken, check out Daring chicken which is more pricey than this option.

Reconstitute in Broth and Seasoning!
Although I am not vegetarian, I am trying to eat less meat and ran across this product when doing a general search for meat substitutes. I like this product a lot and will order it again when I run out. It has a good texture and I use it in everything from slow cooker recipes to burritos and stir fry. It requires no special storage and the long shelf life is good for folks that cook for one person most of the time. My one caveat is that if you use this product, reconstitute it in broth with salt and pepper and whatever seasoning that is appropriate for what ever you are going to use it in because it is very, very bland. The upside to this is that in things like slow cooker dishes it takes on the flavors of the other ingredients.

Excellent Vegan High Protein Meat Substitute
This is the best vegan meat substitute I have found. It has no extra ingredients. It is very easy to prepare. It absorbs flavors from seasonings very well. I highly recommend if you are looking for a minimally processed high protein vegan meat substitute.

Should be called Nothing Like Chicken
I’ve been a vegetarian for 30 years and frequently use TVP in my recipes. I was hopeful for this being “like chicken.” To be clear, for vegetarians, at least this vegetarian, having a sub for meat is about texture and variety and flexibility. It’s not about having the taste of meat, per se.The texture and flavor is pure TVP and that’s it strength and weakness. It’s crunchy when dry and when fully hydrated looks like a casted/molded reconstituted flakes. It’s easy to use small pieces of TVP in recipes calling for ground beef such as chili and tacos. Just Like Chicken is mostly big pieces and some small (broken?) pieces that you can rehydrate with bullion or your own mixes and then added to stir fries or burritos or that would be nice. If you use it in stews or the crock pot only add them at the end. They aren’t anything like chicken but they can be a nice part of a healthy, well-rounded diet.

Easy to reconstitute & freeze for a quick lunch or dinner
My first attempt at making a General Tso vegetarian dish was fun and tasted great. Though I normally make my own sauces, I used the simply organic simmer sauce to keep it simple and less $$.After soaking 4 oz of the chips as directed, I tossed them in a nonstick pan with a little oil for browning, poured in half a pouch of sauce and served rice w/toasted sesame oil, broccoli, and walnuts. Delicious!I'd much prefer a compressed nugget shape for a firm chew, but knowing this brand is hexane-free is a relief.
