Not too bad. Every car book lacks some
Ok I read some of this today... the day it came and was a little disgusted at the amount of incorrect info there was on the g body history. Especially on the Buick. Saw here the Grand National only had a naturally aspirated 4.1 v6 in 82 according to the book. They did have a turbo it was a turd 3.8 draw through turbo with a quadrajet but that isn't a 4.1! Says the hot air cars were slightly better than the old na Grand nationals which isn't the case at all. Everyone knows they are easy to mod like the later version. Yes parts availability can be an issue but if you're going to the lengths of mods in this book fabrications on a turbo anything shouldn't be an issue. 13s- 14s no problem with bolts ons....Yes 86-87 Grand nationals were better but not a "huge leap". When you can bolt every different part from the 86 on the 84-85 block. And today you can find a hot air car for thousands less. The 84-85 regal t/grand national was faster than everything GM made that year also but not the Corvette. I'd say potential is up there. Maybe put that in your next version Joe Hinds. Also they made a turbo t type from 78 to 87. Free info here Joe. Looks like this guy pulled up Wikipedia and copied the first line on Buick Grand National and started talking about 86-87 Grand nationals because that's all he has seen in person. Otherwise good info on anything generalized on a g body. Especially in the transmission swap and rear end area. If you wanna know about those buy this book. thanks for reading I hope you appreciate my frustration with wasted text.

An excellent book on modifying the G-body
The book is not really a how to book, but rather one that tells you about modifications that are possible and will improve the performance of your G-body. This book does expect you to have a basic knowledge of automotive systems so you can understand what the author is saying and will allow you to research the "how do I do it part".

a great guide to starting researching doing your swap
As a Monte Carlo owner for 30 years, and already did one swap, this book gave me LOTS of info, a great guide to starting researching doing your swap,or just about ANY other thing you would want to do to your G-body GM! Only issue I have is it's 3 years old now, and the main reason I got it was that I'm considering an LS-3 swap, and there's a flood of new products on the market since then, never the less, a GREAT book to start with!

Amazing Book
This is an amazingly well written book. I wish all the CarTech Books were done so well. It actually has better information on swaps than their swap book! My only complaint is that since I ordered this as a replacement to my old copy that got ruined, the pictures are no longer in color. The printing quality is not as good but the writing is great.

GM G-Body Oerformance Upgrades
This is a good book with a few technical errors. Author did a good job but pretty much skimmed over the popular turbocharged Buicks of 78-88....T-Types and Grand Nationals. All in all, a pretty good job. I learned a few things. FWIW, power steering pumps on 84-87 turbo Regals is a reverse direction setup so, contrary to this book, Corvette pumps will NOT work here. He did do a good job on GM LS engine installs on G-bodies.

Don't Waste Your Money
The book is well published, good quality materials, and the transaction was speedy and went exactly as one would hope. However, the advice in this book is severely outdated, and not detailed enough to replicate onto your own car. Its a nice picture book to have in your collection if you want to let the world know what your interests are by looking at your magazine collection, or to look through while enjoying a morning coffee without stressing your brain too much, but that's about it. If you are looking to make your car handle, its completely useless, and reads like an advertisement for only the most expensive bolt on stuff. If thats what you're after, you will love it. But i was hoping to make my car handle and for that purpose, this was a waste of money.

Insufficient detail.
Disappointed in this book. It included insufficient detail to be useful. For example, it suggests an LSx swap as a means to improving the performance of the g body but glosses over the details of actually doing the conversion. Also, the book is a somewhat dated. New products - especially suspension products - have rendered some of solutions offered obsolete. This book is best thought of as a very basic introduction to the subject matter.
