Everyone will realise who or what a mother is .
This book is no doubt excellent and keeps you rivetting till the end.It has two altogether to short novels in one book, with two different characters Venkatesh and Mukesh. Both of them find some truth when they dig about biological relations and both find out the greatness of "The mother". Mother is No less in showering love be it biological mother or a mother who adopts a Child. Sudha Murthy has woven the words beautifully to make a beautiful story which not only keeps us engaged through out but also brings out human values and relationships. Your heart melts but it is still heavy that's what I can say when u read the story.

Highly recommended.
Sudha Murthy has always been one of my favourite Indian authors. I love her works of fiction and nonfiction. Now, this book comprises of two novellas. Both the novellas explore the emotional complexities of two men when they find out about the mothers they never knew they had. Venkatesh is a privileged member of the upper class society, all thanks to his wife Shanta. But things take a drastic turn when Venkatesh gets transferred to Hubli. A list of unexpected events lead Venkatesh to his stepmother, a wife who didn't get the recognition she deserved. Surprised, rather shocked by the upturn of events, Venkatesh has to take a decision, a decision which will inevitably be opposed by his wife and son. After his father's death, Mukesh is made to face a big truth, a truth which had been kept hidden from him for so long. Mukesh on finding out the fact that he is adopted, undertakes a journey, a journey seeking for his real birth-giver. The journey however gives way to many revelations, Illegitimacy and teenage pregnancy to name a few. With all his questions and queries answered, Mukesh comes back to his Amma, the one and only architect of his life whatsoever his birth identity be. Written in a very simple language, this book would make a perfect read for beginners too. Highly recommended even if you are not much into Indian Fiction. ššššš/5

Nice read that takes through all kinds of emotions
If you are a beginner reader and looking for the right book for you, then pick this one. It has nice life lessons, learnings and will take you through all kinds of emotions because of its narrative. The two stories are completely different from each other. While one fights to pay his father's debt and help his step brother, the other goes to learn about his real parents. I would definitely like to explore more books written by Sudha Murty.
