Worthy of Collectrion for all artists and art lovers
Very detailed book with amazing illustrations and thorough content with vast coverage. Also, a very commendable print quality on glossy paper. Truly a thing to possess for life.

While the book is exquisite (it's Taschen, after all), the packaging was shoddy. My copy got bent at the corners all throughout, and since this is a hardcover coffee-table book, the damage, while minor, is quite visible and irksome. One star deducted for that.

OK But could be better...
..if they published full-page paintings, which are scarce, than these half/quarter-page images, and more description/analysis!! Frankly, who wants commentary of Gogh's painting ,specially when that means compromising with the size of painting?? Not much impressed with this book.

Wonderful
This book is a treasure for people who love van Gogh's paintings. The reproductions are well done, the colors are vibrant. I spend hours poring over this book. So many of his paintings are not well known, this book opens a window into his life and imagination that isn't commonly available.I read a bit of the text, though it is not why I bought this book -- I bought it for the images. The text has some factual mistakes in it that have recently been disproved or questioned. For example, van Gogh did not hand his amputated ear to a prostitute, but to a girl who was a cleaner at a brothel. She was underage (around 15 or 16) and she has since been identified and her family contacted. Also, there is a very seductive theory that he did not kill himself (why would he go into the country with a canvas and paints and come back shot in the abdomen?), but was shot at accidentally by some boys playing with a gun in a field, and rather than charge them with a crime, went home, thinking he might recover. These things do not appear in the text in this book. However, it is for the images that you should buy this book. Vibrant and wonderful and deserving of being remembered for a long long time.
