Good for casual use
For the price they're well made and offer good value. They're consistent when used on a hard floor and ideal for general weight monitoring. The issue for me was that compared with calibrated medical scales there was a 2-3kg discrepancy. Due to a medical condition I require more accurate scales and had to pay the additional £50 for them.

Very bad quality not woth the price
These scales from Salta are made very poorly. You can see glue coming from the matt the scales will not go to 0 scales I tried everything placed on a flat solid floor, asked my partner to have a go, and asked my neighbour, thinking I was doing something wrong, he could not get them to line up to zero, the key underneath doesn't seem to fit correctly but does not look broken, they are just bloody crap I don't think these are genuine Salter, returned.

Weigh hay
Have been using glass digital scales, but the batteries never last long and it was a faff so decided to go manual again, far more accurate. I still think these are lying to me lol no way I'm that heavy ooops ...

Simple, robust, built to last. If you want a decent metric scale, this is it.
I have always preferred the simplicity and reliability of mechanical scales. No need to faff about with 2032 cells every so often, no pseudoscientific pretense of body fat percentage analysis, no attempt to read your horoscopes. Simple and unpretentious, old-school, large dial, easy to read. The major irritation for me being that most scales like this in the UK have dual imperial/metric scales (needlessly cluttered if you're only going to weigh yourself in kilograms), with the imperial on the outer (bigger) ring -- making the metric more awkward to read. So in short, if you weigh yourself in kilograms, this is probably what you want.

Not as accurate as I hoped they would be
I so wanted to like these scales.. I want to support british companies like Salter and they do look really great.. but this is an instance where I just can't accept form over function.. here's the problem.. It's mechanical measuring.. the springs and all the connected mechanism do not behave identically every time. I knew that if I didn't return them I would regret it when the return window closes. The problem is even if I zero the needle every time it still sometimes does not return to zero. When it goes up to the weight it still leaves room for confusion between the lines.., err is that a pound? or half a pound? (same in kilos). To the eye looking at a needle between unidentified lines can at best be an approximation. Moving even slightly causes such a fluctuation on the scale you cannot be sure which is the right reading. This could be massively improved by including a digital readout like some other manufacturers do, and there's plenty of room to do that on the big dial. In this format they're just not properly accurate so sorry..
