Awesome Sewing Machine
This sewing machine has been wonderful!!! The last sewing machine I bought was 45 years ago and the Bernette was met my needs and then some. I would definitely recommend this sewing machine.

Good brand, even if I received a Lemon
The machine jams. Hands wheel locks and won’t go back or forward at times. Not user error, seamstress of 30 years& teach. Return window over. after just a month, have to take it to my bernina dealer to check at my $I have Bernette machines &love them, would buy more but this one needs maintenance at one month old.I ordered from Amazon because I needed an extra machine quickly and my local dealer wouldn’t have one in stock for weeks.I hesitate ordering sewing machines from Amazon because of the delicate nature of which to be handled. I’m guessing this was not handled properlylesson learned. This review is on THE ITEM I RECEIVED, not the Bernette 35 in general, they are good little machines, I still recommend to everyone. Just don’t buy from Amazon, buy from your local bernina dealer.

Perfect size and easy to operate.
The Bernette 35 is a basic sewing machine. Relatively quiet, lightweight, and easy to use. If you are on a tight budget and need a good machine the Bernette 35 would be a perfect choice. I'm sure this machine will be used quite a bit as I am trying to teach myself how to quilt.

I don't normally go out of my way to leave a product review...
I've been sewing since junior high school. I'm pushing 70 now. So, for many decades I have been sewing, everything imaginable--clothing, sport coats, formal attire, duvet covers, drapery, dog jackets--you name it. The portable Riccar I had since I was 17 croaked last week, RIP, old trusty friend. I did a semi-exhaustive search for its replacement and threw the dice and bought this bernette. It arrived last night and I set it up this morning and began sewing on it right away. It's super solid, super intuitive, quiet, simple and very portable. I haven't had it for long, obviously, but it's love at first sight at this point in our relationship.

Great value from exceptiona .brand
My Bernini from 1980 did not make it through my move. This machine is well worth the reasonable price. Does all I want and a quality product.

Missing some features found on more expensive Berninas.
Got this machine to replace a "heirloom" Bernina Artista 180. I'm planning to just make simple garments for my 2-year-old granddaughter. I wanted a basic mechanical sewing machine. Unfortunately, I didn't realize how much I've depended on features like setting if the needle ends up or down and a knee lever to lift the foot. This new machine also unthreads the needle if I'm not very careful about pulling enough thread through before starting to sew -- 4" isn't enough! I've only been using the Bernette 35 for a couple days and hope I'll adjust. I should review again in a couple weeks.

Good simple to uses machine with excellent support!
I bought this machine in June 2019 and have been pushing it hard quilting and apparel sewing ever since. It was doing very well until it did not. I called customer service and received OUTSTANDING support. Alan walked me through all the basic steps of threading with great patience. It turned out that a domestic machine (any) is not able to handle heavier thread. I had no idea. I have had no more problems after changing out the thread.

Keeps jamming, don’t waste your money
I bought this machine at the end of January 2023 so I’ve had it for 4 months. I use it frequently but not daily to make clothing, just average cotton or rayon fabrics, nothing challenging for the machine like leather or fake fur. I bought it to replace a Singer that I used for 40 years, so I have a good basic working knowledge of how to use a sewing machine. The thread keeps jamming as it goes around the bobbin case. I followed the instructions in the manual and checked online for how to deal with this problem. The advice seems to be that I need to clean lint and threads out of the area around the bobbin and under the presser foot plate, and oil the machine. I’ve done that and checked everything to do with thread, needle size and fabric type. Nothing helps. As an absolute minimum a sewing machine should reliably sew, and this one won’t. Another reviewer mentioned the same problem but the machine in general gets good reviews, so maybe Bernia’s quality control is inconsistent. I wouldn’t buy this machine unless you are fond of gambling; maybe your new sewing machine will sew and maybe it won’t!
